If this whole thing was Federal vs NYS only, I would be a lot more concerned about mandatory forfeiture/confiscation. As it is, NYS has far overstepped their authority. We may see just how irritated the SC is on Friday. ;)

Doesn't matter how irritated the SC is. NY will go about business as usual with no repercussions.

Buy a case and the dealer keeps one round. It’s like the opposite of a bakers dozen. I’ll say that’s odd for .22LR and 1000 rounds is not much when considering that caliber.

I may breakdown and try my luck today... I dont NEED anything right now but always can use ammo so get a box of slug or something I have the least of......and try my luck on the spin the wheel!! pass, fail or DELAY .never a problem with NICS but........we've all seem crazy stuff with this?!

Help me out here: I get it if you're out of ammo and have no other option to purchase, BUT....what is the thought process behind voluntarily giving up all of your most sensitive personal information and basically registering with the state in order just to "test" this new system?

I mean, you're literally volunteering to be put into a state database that tracks and records your ammunition purchases. I just don't get it. :confused:

I'm very much against it.

However, the state already knows what pistols and pistol calibers we have. All they are learning is how much I shoot 9mm or .22 with my pistols.

I can see the state using the database something like this - Oh I see here he has increased his monthly shooting from 200rd to 500rds and his online profile is becoming more extreme, add a few points to his threat index ranking and put him in the high risk algorithm tracker.

I "might" buy some ammo for pistols that I own that the state already knows about.

I absolutely AM NOT buying ammo or calibers the state doesn't know about.

If you have a pistol permit and buy pistol ammo it makes no difference. Just don't buy all your ammo in NY. :rolleyes:

Let these tid-bits step in your Tea Pot: The NYSP is three to five years behind in processing the form that Dealers must fll out and submit to them for EVERY Handgun that comes in or goes out, so there's going to be at least two for each times how many thousands a year.
Their Files were so fucked up that the "recertification" along with a List of every Handgun in your possession was deemed necessary to actually determine who still has a Licenses, and what pistols they have, or possibly don't have.
The change in recertification had to be done to support the three year Renewal clause in the CCIA, still even that's fucked up within the System they use.
I strongly suspect that the new background check system for guns and ammunition is an attempt to build a registry where the one for Handguns just cannot be fixed. Hochul said it herself; the State has got to know what guns and ammunition you've got and I say it's so they know what they're after when confiscating, and/or a list of what you have to match against when you're ordered to surrender them all...say what you want, but deep down you know I'm right.

Then they are feeding all the data to the feds and other states and gun control organizations but its easily done electronically so always deniable.

I like the analysis and would be doing it if I was data processing geek, how many people buying 9mm who don't have a pistol permit also also intercity. This will cause them to ban this. All negative factors will cause new restrictions. The geeks who made the system have to now make new performance objectives for next years raise and promotions so they are thinking.
