My opinion of a failure is having someone climbing a roof with a firearm, within such a close range, and not being neutralized sooner. There should have been more countersniper teams on rooftops to view all locations that had Vantage points to see the stage where Trump was speaking.

The fact that a sniper was allowed on a roof within such close range is ridiculous to me. If a sniper took a shot from a thousand yards away hidden in the woods wearing a ghillie suit I couldn't say that was a failure of the Secret Service because that would be difficult to account for, but on a roof within 150 yards is inexcusable.

From what I've seen at other venues / events, at a very low and common threshold, the protected asset is not allowed to take the podium / stage or remain in the Open while an identified potential threat or questionable anomaly is evaluated / addressed.

That makes sense the story posted above by @tirwin1 where the SS sniper posted he wanted to shoot the attempted assassin before but was denied permission.

I tend to believe that's 100% possible based on circumstances and it sure as hell looked like the SS sniper had the shot all lined up because it appears a nearly instantaneous counter fire after the assassin shoots at trump the SS sniper immediately shoots him without any sort of scanning or repositioning. That leads some credibility to the theory.

The only thing I'm not sure of yet is how realistic it is to believe an SS sniper would just publicly dox himself after a high profile event like that before any official statements are made. That toe doesn't add up, but the story still seems plausible regardless. I'll wait on more details and confirmation before really solidifying an opinion.

If the post from above is genuine and the SS sniper publicly outed himself to show they wanted to protect trump but were prevented from doing so this is a literal political nuke. This story is absolutely worth following and key to understanding.

Unless the post from above was accurate and the SS spotted him and were DENIED authority to neutralize the guy. That's a bombshell detail.

But there's definitely some issues here that go beyond reasonable explanation, especially for SS and typical primary security protection! 3 seconds to get to the primary might as well have been a year! The failure to remove him from the stage. The exit vehicle and set up not being closure, expanding exposure. The so called post where "permission" was required to take out an identified threat doesn't make any sense at all. The primary directive of that security detail is to protect the asset from all threats, period! They don't need to find out what a guy on a roof intends to do with the rifle he has, let alone if it's pointed even remotely in the direction of the asset. The delay in getting him away from the kill zone is infuriating! Great set up to pop a few shots and immobilize a target for a final result. The agents... Couldn't reholster... What the fuck are you reholstering for? Who said there were no more threats! What the fuck...? The only one I liked what I saw was the one who didn't holster her weapon... Who the fuck trained these people? You don't know who, how many, where they are, what their plan is, you don't stand down until your asset is well out of harms way! Not while he's moving, not whole he's 10' from you... You stay ready, not fighting your holster... What the fuck!

The failures were in not securing potential points of interest. The high ground. Covering fields of fire. Etc.

Let's look at city visits when manhole covers are welded. Doors at entrances secured, limiting access, and anything that may lend to "insecurity" being secured!

Easy now, bit those roofs should not have been accessible. And if accessed, then challenged!

Hindsight is 20/20, and I have limited exposure to primary asset protections, but when something stinks like shit, it usually is... I don't believe in coincidence!

Well add me to the list of "grassy null" conspiracy theorists. I said that I believe it was not him that did the shooting, but a well trained shooter. I keep an open mind and know how evil these fuckers are. Sure they coulda killed Trump, but maybe they want him alive. I feel there is a motive here, just can't put finger on it. Maybe they want Trump to turn and support AW bans. He changed some of his stance on abortion and lost some supporters (maybe gained new ones). He supports any gun control there goes half his base. Democrat tactic?

It is just a theory and I hope I am wrong. But I refuse to accept that the Democrats were involved and that they want to "come together" as a nation. They are snakes.

@GOPerfect mentioned reports of a local cop climbing up on the roof to investigate, news reports have been mentioning this as well. He pointed the rifle at the cop who ducked below the roof line then took his shots at Trump. If the cop was in the field of view it may be a reasonable cause for the SS sniper to pause.

I watched a video that said the sniper who shot the would-be assassin was to Trump's left.
Not one of the snipers on the building behind the stage that are usually referred to. But IDK.

Glad to see Trump is out playing golf and having a good game today.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again, I want Trump to have more security presence that actually cares for him -- not just "oh, this is a job" bullshit.

I'm sure there are plenty of folks like us that would take a lead shot for Trump. I certainly would. Trump is a great presidential leader.

I can't wait for him to be back in the White House again.

All these pics of the would be assassin on the rooftop that laymen took and witnessed …… but not one trained professional saw him, even after audience members sounded the alarm? Yeah , sounds about right. In fact , there probably should have been a trained sniper on that fucking roof as well as the others???! Reeks of shit to me

I know of a few active duty folks who have top secret clearance and have slipped stuff to me. Beg me not to say anything. Then why tell me in the first place?!
