The problem is many people think health care and keeping it as is or cheap is worth fighting for. This will keep the republicans cut to that in place. I get both sides but at some point people have to do more for themselves and not less. You can’t simply have your handout to the government day after day and year after year. I get there are circumstances where some of this is unavoidable but most people are just too lazy to work.
I know people who truly need help though and they should be able to get it if that’s the case. I’m not saying the republicans are taking that away but that’s what the democrats are stating they are doing and some believe it.
On track I do hope the government shutdown and I hope it goes on for months. I hope the truth comes out as to why this is important and the democrats come out smelling like the pig crap they are.

If the president is a republican and the government shuts down its always the fault of the president.

That's the way the press frames it, every single time.

This time I am confused. Don't the Republicans control both houses of congress? If they simply voted on a party line there won't be a shutdown. Or am I missing something?

Beat solution is for the Republicans in congress to fund only the parts that need to be funded, and do them separately one at a time.

Fund social security with a bill (I know it gets paid for in a "shutdown", but this is about the optics). And *only* social security with that bill.

Force the democrats to vote against that single topic bill if they want to play the shutdown game.

Then do it again, one topic at a time for every budget item the American taxpayers actually care about.

No more "all or nothing" budgets.

When we were "shut down" there were still a few of us that were deemed "essential" and had to come in everyday (Mission Essential) everyone was back paid without lapses in Insurance, and if you were out on either Sick or Personal Leave you were not paid until after .gov was back up and running. Couple times I took off and went on vacation, and if they called me back in before I was back I could just take leave.

Tuesday night my mom was practically crying as she stated "be ready to lose a lot of money. The Stock Market is going to crash thanks to Trump shutting down the government. He really is a dictator!".
