I read here and elsewhere about intent. No intent needs to be had for bad things to occur.
The guy on Xmas day in Oklahoma that was in his backyard shooting off his new gun.
He did not intend on shooting the old lady up the street.
We was still charged, will be convicted and he will go to prison.

I don't like the looks of this one. It appears he could have stepped to the side and avoided. I have a feeling this may lead to more restrictive UoF law than Graham V Connor and
Even 20ish years ago our instructors impressed upon us to not try to stop cars with our face. I can't believe that we still have kids that step in front of vehicles and think their shield is gonna make a lick of difference.

I have no idea what youre talking about. A Deputy from Florida would have no law enforcement authority in Minnesota.
County sheriffs and Police Chiefs should be more concerned with upholding the law rather than politicians whims. But the blue states specifically prefer option 2

The guy who shot was also a guy who got run over and dragged a while back and spent time in the hospital. Whether or not it was him in front of the vehicle, A LEO was in the direction of movement. Ergo, threat to life or serious injury.

The whole reason the door was opened to LET the Executive Branch deploy federal assets IS the fact that State/ City elected officials refused to support laws on the books. They opened the door for someone to take action. I am a huge fan of small Gov, inner circle of action/ control. THIS is exactly where we land when we ignore law, incite crisis, facilitate acting out for feel goodness.

The thing is the guy getting run down wasn’t the one that shot her. The issue is people need to remember that once you make and commit to a decision it’s takes a bit to process that there is no longer a threat. That split second is all that is needed to explain why he shot her in this situation.

The thing is an activist felt the right to ignore directions, in a public street, during a LEO action, and put a LEO in harms way. Sorry for her kids. But an adult choice is an adult choice.

(KATU) — A U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent shot and wounded two people in Portland on Thursday afternoon, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which said the shooting was in self-defense when the driver of a vehicle that the agents had pulled over tried to run them over.
In a statement shortly after the shooting was confirmed, Mayor Keith Wilson said that a day after that shooting that "Portland is now grappling with another deeply troubling incident."
"We cannot sit by while constitutional protections erode and bloodshed mounts. Portland is not a "training ground" for militarized agents, and the "full force" threatened by the administration has deadly consequences. As Mayor, I call on ICE to end all operations in Portland until a full investigation can be completed."

DHS described the vehicle's passenger as "a Venezuelan illegal alien affiliated with the transnational Tren de Aragua prostitution ring" who had been involved in a recent shooting in Portland.
When the Border Patrol agents identified themselves to the vehicle's occupants the driver tried to run them over, the department said in a written statement.
"Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired a defensive shot," the statement said.
"The driver drove off with the passenger, fleeing the scene."

Who else was that far in front of the vehicle to have shot through the windshield?
You can clearly see from the vids that the guy who was in front didn't get a shot off until he was at the front left corner of the vehicle, with the round from his gun being the one that went through the windshield near the left A-pillar and through the perp.
