The GBU-57 "Massive Ordinance Penetrator" is a 30,000 lb bomb 20 feet long that is specifically designed to destroy *very* deeply buried targets.
It can penetrate *60 feet* of reinforced concrete or 200 feet of normal earth and rock.
The normal "bunker busters" like the GBU-72 that Isreal can use are *much* smaller at 5000lbs.
It's not just a matter of dropping 10x as many of the smaller bombs and tunneling your way down.
And the Fordow site is buried so deeply it would likely take multiple hits from the GBU-57.
If that job could have been done with a flight of B52s dropping dozens of GBU-72s, they never would have designed the GBU-57.
If Isreal could destroy it with GBU-72s they already would have. I'm pretty sure they stock them in inventory, and it's basically the best bunker buster anyone has that can be dropped by anything other than the spicy dorito.

IMHO, I think what everyone needs to keep in mind is that Trump understands the media and the use of it in anything his administration does.
B2's, evacuations, vessel movements and the like are all prudent movements when labeling Iran a threat to our military targets. Not offensive. Iran already knows that Trump will target their leaders if engaged. But this is still a support operation with Israel leading it with a goal in mind that they can accept. Iran may know that as it has signaled to Trump, stop Israel and negotiations can begin. But intel on the ground may indicate Israel isn't satisfied that whatever their true goals are, haven't been met. So Trump continues with his solution. Come back to the table.
Regime change is not happening without boots on the ground. But its a great talking point for deflection and get the media going. That goal hasn't worked in my life time and no reason that trend will change. But the media is running with it.
With Democrats, Republicans, UK and EU aligning on this Iran threat, I think Trump is extremely skeptical as he should be. Trump in office for the next 3.5 years with Vance in the wings for eight, is considered and existential threat to the world order. They have invested trillions in that goal and Trump can destroy it all. Up rooting banking norms and resetting global banking. We have to take notice that China and Russia haven't really done much other than maybe get caught up in the military assistance angle. The same as what we, the US are doing in out roles in Ukraine, Israel and South China sea.
