Elkins, 31, has a prior criminal conviction in Caddo District Court. He was arrested in March 2019 on a charge of illegal use of weapons and carrying a firearm on school property.
According to a police report, Elkins said he walked outside to meet a buddy who was going to pick him up but another person in the car pulled a gun and pointed it at him. Elkins admitted firing five rounds at the car as the driver left.
The incident took place less than 300 feet from the fenceline at Caddo Magnet. The gunshots were fired in the direction of the school while children were playing outside, according to the police report.
Elkins pleaded guilty to the illegal weapons charge in October 2019. The second charge was dismissed, and Elkins was placed on probation for 18 months.

Would any of us get probation if we did the same thing

Worked as a high school mathematics for teacher 23 years in the Cuse and have lived here since 1976. I have feelings regarding this and will admit they are not the sympathetic, tragedy, something must be done type. THE CHILDREN NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN HARMED!! After that nothing is going to change until personal responsibility is required from all.

Over those 49 years of living here I have lost count of the times the leaders of the black community have thrown up their arms, gnashed their teeth and cried to the heavens that the killing of our babies must stop. Only for a senseless killing of another child to occur. I am numb of this. I will not expend life energy trying to understand it any better as I believe I already do. It is profitable for the status quo to remain for some members of the black community. These children are having their lives sucked dry by vampires of their own kind!

As terrible as this is there is nothing I can do except talk about it and I am done doing that.

For those who have an interest in Criminology (or have watched the series, Mindhunter) this is actually a classic case of a Family Mass Murder killing.

This type of murder, along with the statistics on the perpetrators and victims, are closely studied and tracked. Interestingly, this type of crime is generally not seen in the black population, which makes it an unusual.


What IS very typical in this case is prior convictions for violence, recent mental health struggles, and an apparent suicide of the killer (very commonly, suicide by cop).

In this technical sense, yes, this is black on black crime, but it is more accurately referred to as family mass murder or a domestic violence killing.

A horrible tragedy.

And some news channels showed pics of LA Senator (White) as somehow being responsible for this event... That disappeared early but it was there.

Bottom line is it doesn't matter the excuse used, but with a particular demographic, it's always someone or something else's fault used to explain away that demographic's propensity to violence and it's refusal to accept societal norms.

I've posted before about Levine's "Why Race Matters", to some, a controversial subject. But he covers why Europe and Africa were on the same level at some point during the Middle Ages, but one continent went in one direction, and the other is still stuck where it was then! Why and what the differences are. Evident in our society here in the US that despite abundance of public assistance and even since Affirmative Action, this demographic doesn't seem to be effected by those efforts. If the White population (by percentage) decided to adopt said lean on public assistance here in the US, the system would collapse!

Point is, cultural differences won't allow outside influence to serve as any difference maker in regard to this demographic. And the Black on Black Crime, especially Violence, is a Taboo subject that nobody wants to address. Let alone the predominant single parent household within this culture! A point raise by Moynihan and his papers that unintendedly led to the establishment of Affirmative Action. Lastly, many if allowed, would let you know how AA hasn't worked and in all likelihood has actually hurt that demographic!

Anyways...

RIP those children! And I hope there's a special place in Hell for these evil people who hurt children!

I genuinely surprised and saddened this type of thing happens often enough that it has a name and is studied.

Sad commentary on our times.

75 years ago the black population of the US was as family oriented and religious as every other demographic, maybe more-so in many ways. While the beginnings of the welfare state go back almost 90 years in America, it was in the 60's and the Lyndon B Johnson administration came along and destroyed all of it. The welfare state made black women dependent upon the government and lead to the fatherless household, and the rapidly downward spiral began. Johnson greatly expanded the free handouts with his "War on Poverty", essentially enslaving them once again albeit in a different manner - and all so the Democrat party could benefit. "We'll have those ni☆☆ers voting democrat for the next 200 years."

There's plenty of blame to be spread around, for sure. But the roots of it all go back to LBJ and the Democratic party.
