Damn, I wonder if you can take a bolt apart and just swap out the part that comes into contact with the cartridge? Swap that from the 223/556 to the 9mm.

I thought it stated somewhere that it couldn't be threaded so it it couldn't accept a muzzle device. I was considering the jbweld. Seems like that's what I'm gonna do. Thanks for the help guys.

Funny how thats the Ares SCR Lower. I have the full SCR and want to change the upper since the one it comes with is so damn basic. If I can smooth out the threads on a totally new upper that would be great. If I can get one of those thread protectors soon enough I will try that first.

Can you safely shoot 5.56 or .233 without a flash hider threaded onto the barrel? Seeing good deals on uppers and Looking to smooth out the threads and have it legal here. I can do the drilling and pinning but don't have access to a welding machine to make it official.
