I use my Mini 30 for deer hunting with the .310 123 g Hornady SST's with 25 grains of H4198. I just swapped out projectiles this last week using Sierra Pro Hunter .311 125g. Pretty much same point of impact and same group size.
I've tagged 5 deer in the last 2 years with it. I don't think I've...
If you're willing to do some work and some research, Perfect Union is the place to visit. You can take a so so Mini 14/30 and wind up with a dang nice shooter.
I have made some same hole shots consistently after doing some minor mods. You gotta wanna do it though.
I have a .357 Model 66 SS w/6" barrel that shoots lights out. For that reason I bought a Model 44 44 magnum. That thing shot 8" to the left with factory ammo. I loaded up some .430 HiTek coated and got it to around 4" left with the sights slightly to the right. If I buried the sights to the...
I would say lead but all I see you load up is all copper plated stuff.
Send me the gun. You can't have that in your arsenal. It might spread to other guns.
Nice set up Carlos. I got the UFO LED light and it is amazing. That Hornady L & L press will be fine for production loading. You can use it like a basic turret press as you get used to reloading by just sending one shell thru at a time.
My LGS had some fella come in from NYS and told him he had to have a smokeless powder magazine to store some black powder pellets. The pellets weren't much more than a couple of handfulls. I am a Cabinetmaker so he had me make him an orange painted box 2' x 2' x 3' long box with 2 padlocks. On...
Water, a little squirt of dawn and 1/4 teaspoon (ballpark) lemishine. Tumble for an hour and its all done. I decap first in hopes of getting primer pockets a little clean.
I don't get pins stuck in the flashole this way.
I've been using a cheap Harbor Freight tumbler with Dawn and Lemishine only and my brass is done in an hour and just as shiny as the OP's brass. I think steel pins are over rated w/the exception of cleaning out the primer pockets. For rifle ammo I just spin the little RCBS wire pocket cleaner if...
That's a dang nice looking revolvulator there Mister. Reloading for that thing is the way to go. I save lots o' cash rolling my own. I have a Ruger SRH that I shoot with 300grn Missouri Bullet Co projectiles with 19.2 grn W296. Love it.
I think you have to stay with the 240grn because the 300's...
I have some 9mm brass you can have. Also some 44 mag .429 AE hollow points for little to nothing. Cortland County. I can meet you at Mayhoods. I go there from time to time. About an hour for me.
I shot a Grouse with a fishing rod. We were exploring for a new crick we saw on a Topo map. We were roaming thru the woods looking for the crick and a Grouse flew up. I shouldered my fishing rod and hollered out BANG BANG. Down he went, no shit. He must have flown into a tree and broke a wing. I...
I have been working up some loads for my Ruger Super Redhawk. 300 grn Missouri Bullet Co. Hi Tek 2 Hammer. I started at 19 grns 296 and bumped up .2 grn for every testing up to 20 grns.
19.4 grns seems to be the sweet spot for accuracy in my revolvulator.
I am currently loading up 50 rounds...
I am using the SST123 gr and H4198 out of my Mini 30. 24 - 25 grns seems to be the most accurate for me. 2-3 MOA is good enough for me for whitetail boiler room.
A lot of fun to pop off a 10 rd. mag or 2 sometimes.
If I indulge I only deprime or prime cases.
If I am reloading and decide to have beer I will only load until one or two beers are down me, then I stop reloading.
That's how I roll.
I had the PF 9 and it was real snappy. It never bobbled anytime at all for me. I think I put 7-800 rds. thru it and sold it and got a Glock 19 Gen 4.
I ended up getting a Glock 43 when they came out. I have at least 1k rounds thur it. Glocks are good reliable guns.
Rugers customer service did me right. SR 45 FTF, FTE. One week turnaround. Shot 300 more perfect rounds thru it and traded it off for the SR 1911 45ACP
I finally got it on Monday. I had to wait a few weeks because my FFL was waiting to get his license renewed. He ended up selling my gun for $400 minus FFL fees $25 instead of the $300 GB was offering me. In the meantime I was perusing GB and found a real nice one from 2013-2014 for $699 plus...
I bought the brand newSuper mainly because of ease of disassembly and tweaking the trigger mods. I actually like the styling of the Redhawk better because it looks more like the keeping of an older style revolver. It is my understanding however that they are less resistant to tweaking and you...
I ended up with the 7 1/2" barrel. I like the looks of that over the 9 1/2". I suspect the latter would be more accurate though. My stand is in such a place that shots past 50 yds. would be dang near impossible.
From Buds Gun Shop. Got the one with the Hi Viz front sight. I traded in my Taurus 44 mag. They gave me $300 for it. I bought it for $450. I think I'm good for deer hunting now.
I want to develop a 310g load for it. Missouri bullets has a "Hammer" Hi Tek coated.
I'm all boned up.
We had some piebald deer here in Cortland county a few years ago. Marathon, Willet, Cincinnatus area. I was walking the RR tracks in Marathon about 10 - 12 years ago with my youngest son and saw a Piebald deer right in Marathon village. A friend of mine, Jerry Grau got it in the fall. 6 point...
I have the Lee Classic Turret Press and I find it works good for loading 50 - 100 rds. at a time. I don't shoot in any organized sport though.
For a semi progressive press it fit the bill for me. All necessary steps in one 4 stage motion. I don't see how people use single stage presses without...
My Lee manual calls out lead bullet only and runs from 1.190 to 1.225. Some loads run a little longer. Ram zip, silhouette and n 320 and 340 run a little longer.
I had to pull down approx. 100 rds. of factory 44 Magnum because they don't shoot well in my Taurus M44. They shoot waaaaayyy to the left. They don't obturate thru my gun. The cylinder throats are .430 and the factory ammo is .429 or 4285. My barrel was slugged at approx. .429 or a little less...
I've had good luck with PPU in 7.62 x 39. I buy lots of 200 and shoot and reload them with Hornady 123g SST's using h4198. It does pretty dang good in my Mini 30 @ 100 yds.
I like to be able to go in and look stuff over hands on so to speak. I don't mind giving local retailers a little profit. I am an independent business man myself. I am a Cabinetmaker Contractor by trade. My son and I do a lot of cabinet work in Ithaca.
That being said, I have done business with...
