After you obtain an address in Oneida County maybe you should apply for a full carry in Oneida County. I’m sure it will be much easier than Westchester. In Westchester County the Westchester County Clerk’s office takes care of pistol licenses, not the NYSPD.

I would try the Long Island stores. They have more inventory than Westchester. These are some that I frequent, in this order. Hunter Sports in Massapequa. South Shore Sports in Merrick. Coliseum Gun Traders in Uniondale.

When I did mine many moons ago they didn't, but with the sign of the times today who knows.

Not a good idea. As said before it takes up too much space plus it adds a lot of weight to the safe depending on where the safe if located, eg. (2nd Fl.). Better off in a locked ammo can or a locked cabinet in a dark area at room temperature. I prefer plastic or wood over metal for these...

When I applied for my permit It was a 2 year wait. 1 year for the appointment and 1 year for the permit. I didn't want to take any chances so I bought a Ruger Mark III (22) and applied for a target permit. I received it in 3 months from the time of the interview. That was unheard of at the time.

@Chevusa Glock 17 has a longer sight radius which aids in accuracy. Glock 17 weighs more which helps with recoil management. Glock 17 hurts more if you have to rack the slide in his eye socket.

If you don't like Glocks get a Sig Sauer P320. They are comparable to Glocks but have a slightly higher bore axis. They are also available with night sights. I would stay away from the bigger calibers to start. Master 1 gun and 1 caliber before you move on...

@ikilledkenney, I would go with 1 at time. I don't think you will get the permit if you include the sales receipts for 3 guns with your permit application. Did you do the class with Ben like you said you were?
