I do carry extra cordage, but the main reason I wrapped them was to have a better grab handle. The black bag has a padded handle that I don't care for and my camo bag was just the bare strap. This gives me "beefier" handles.

You can undo it in a snap

Weight is minimal and as far as function, I much prefer the wrapped vs. bare strap and you can never have too much cord with you.

So, I got bored watching football today and decided to wrap me EDC and BOB pack handles with paracord. Used a cobra stitch. Each bag used about 9' of cord. Used this tutorial as a guide.
