You press a round in the grove and pry the catch back and the mag body releases. You can't load the mag and insert it, but you can top load with strippers.

The mag is fixed. you can remove it, but it comes off in separate pieces. The gun is way over 50 years old also. When i get a few minutes i will take some pics of the mag removed so you can see how it's attached.
