I only use night vision for navigation.
With the plethora of cheap thermal scopes available it makes no sense to purchase night vision or digital night vision.
One reason I prefer the tube style scopes is that they use the same 30mm scope rings as a day scope and can be mounted lower than the...
Banner weekend and a personal best for us with eight dogs dropped.
Five on Sat at two locations and three on Sunday at one location.
Didn't recover the non photogenic third dog Sunday, but it dropped and was still for a good amount of time.
When we went to retrieve it a heavy blood trail was...
Like ATN, DNT optics are hit or miss and there's a reason most of the top optic sellers don't sell DNT.
It's not worth the risk getting a lemon when there are so many quality and tested thermal optics out there to choose from.

The second dog I got in woods that were just logged about an hours drive north.
The leaves made it a quick and challenging shot, but the 20-250 is a laser beam and I put it right in it's ear.

After dealing with the non cooperating dogs I went back to the cabin and took a little siesta.
I got up and went cruising around when I spotted two dogs in a field I could hunt.
Unfortunately after the shot my rifle jammed as my elbow hit the side of the UTV causing me to short stroke the bolt...
Well my season started off slow being it was so hot and bright with the Harvest moon.
It got luke warm as the temps cooled and Harvest moon went away and I was able to drop two females.
Before that happened I was dealing with major heartbreak as dogs were showing up in places I couldn't shoot...
Great job Mr JZ.
I only put down a nusience fox after four long nights of coyote hunting.
I have plenty on camera so I know they're out there.
Hopefully the change in temp and moon will have an effect on the coyote in my area.

My dog doesn't like skunks, but they do a great job of cleaning up the bodies.
As long as they keep their distance they won't end up in the crosshairs.

Now the little mus are wandering about.
This one was sitting on a grape vine and until it moved I thought it was a lantern fly cluster.
Big or small it has to go.

Almost time to take the S60R off the PCP and get it ready for the real thing Oct 1st.
I don't think the mus will be willing to sacrifice themselves to the 256 res scope that usually tops the PCP !
This mus was a crafty little bugger, but a little peanut butter exposed the chink in the armor.

Well I took out my S2 and went over the menu functions.
The left button on the top is the image correction or NUC button.
It makes an audible clicking noise as the shutter is doing it's thing.
If your not hearing that click the shutter is defective.
Your manually NUC'ing it by closing the Obj...
My Rix L3 punches well above it's price point too, but it's decent for longer range shooting because of the ocular zoom feature.
It's going to be a rude awakening when I'll have to put the S60R back on my primary coyote rig and put the S2 back on the PCP rifle in September.
Such is life.

After getting it back to gnat ass shooting accuracy again, I decided to test if sizing and weight sorting pellets had any bearing on maintaining that accuracy.
It turns out that my rifles accuracy only requires weight sorting of the pellets.
8 grains of German match grade formed lead is bad news...
This mus must've thought I was on vacation.
In reality I was so pissed off with the inaccuracy of the PCP rifle that I removed + cleaned the barrel thoroughly to see it that would get it back to it's prior gnat ass shooting rifle status.
Mission accomplished.
SJC...
Mounted the S60R on the PCP to get familiarized with it before predator season opens in NY.
Heat and Humidity, this scope doesn't disappoint.

What's one of the first things law enforcement or reporters do if someone's involved in any type of incident ?
Internet search.
Internet search history can be admitted as evidence in court, particularly if it's deemed relevant to the case.
Law enforcement can obtain this information through...
Agree fully.
I get into a fight I'm coming out on top by any means necessary and could care less about what I use to make that happen.
I don't bet my life on ammo made by someone else.
I load all of my carry ammo using the best components on a single stage press and it works 100% of the time...
The third dog I dropped at a beef farm in orange county.
I dropped a male yote there two weeks ago and figured the female might be around.
Well she was around and was howling the whole way into and in the field we were set up in.
Dropped her at 180 something and being it was the last weekend of...
The second dog of the night was taken after a long game of hide and seek with a couple of different coyote.
I got to the second stand around 11 pm and it immediately started to rain, snow and hail.
I found a comfy pine tree and took cover until it passed around 11:45.
At 11:50 the woods opened...
Ended the 24/25 season with three dogs down.
Two on 3/27 and one on 3/29.
Weather sucked on 3/29 + 3/30, so I'm glad I took Thursday and Friday off to enjoy hunting in some decent weather.
Hunted a camp that I was told has a coyote issue.
I wanted to go earlier, but couldn't get access because...
Here's a video of a hunt last Sat PM with my buddies Savage enhanced Impulse Predator 22-250/ NocPix H50R.
148 yards in foggy humid conditions.
One of the three that came in, a big male.
Second one taken there in two weeks.
You can see the other dog in the top left area of the pic.
SJC
His S50R is a great scope.
NocPix hit it out of the park with the Ace scope's.
18650 battery power, ocular zoom, built in Obj LRF and awesome display resolution, you can also playback your recorded video in the scope.
Still lacking in the image/ease of use dept compared to my X50 with the BAE...
Subsonic 338 ARC is meant to be used with a suppressor.
It's still handgun loud when not using a suppressor, but will be a little quieter than std velocity ammo.
The spectrum scope has an on board ballistic calculator, so it'll make longer shots taken with the anemic 338 ARC subsonic ammo...
If it's just for deer culling, any digital NV scope with a 4x base mag using an IR illuminator will work.
Looking over the sports south site at what's available in your price range, I would say the AGM spectrum LRF DNV scope would be a good choice for your needs.

I advise digital...
Finally had a chance to get out without mother nature throwing a wrench into the hunt.
Had two dogs come in last night/this morning.
First dog skirted the field edge in the no shoot zone and disappeared.
The second dog didn't.
208 yards with the enhanced Savage Impulse .243/Rix L3.
Big female.

Have heard at a distance but haven't seen any dog's over the last several weeks.
We put a hurting on the local population, so it takes a little time for the Beta coyote to get around to taking over Alpha dog territory after we evict them.
Finally got some dogs to answer from a couple hundred...
Dropped this one Sat PM on the first set.
It must've been resting on the ridge below us out of the wind, as it got up and bolted when I started calling.
It didn't bolt fast enough.
I always try to make it a point to keep the chatter/noise down while entering and exiting a stand location.
This...
Put out a bait pile and a camera.
See when they visit and hunt accordingly.
Coyote are very territorial, so it must be a pack that's hanging around your uncle's place.
Good luck
Looks like a very versatile optic at a reasonable price.
Looking forward to seeing some varied range pics when the weather gets better, but it's also good to see how it performs in inclimate weather too.
SJC
No need to step up your game If it gets the job done.
I buy all this gear because it gives me an excuse if I miss.
It can't be me, it has to be the new fangled scope, rifle or ammo.
Speaking of ammo, I loaded up some fresh 20-250 rounds with Hammer 20 cal 41gr HHT's for the new year after...
Here's some basic thermal info.
Thermal info
The most costly and critical part of a consumer thermal optic is the germanium objective lens.
All parts are critical, but the internals won't matter without a good lens that'll let unaltered IR transmissions through in a certain waveband.
The newest...
My buddy is deadly with his 22-250 Impulse Predator.
That's the third dog he dropped in that field, almost at the same spot.
It was my turn to shoot, but why mess with a 2-0 record.
SJC
The new Seeker/Taipan V2 is an awesome update to the Taipan line.
Everything I wanted in a thermal mono at a great price.
The 640 image of my Fuzion is great and the 2x base isn't bad, but it's nice to have the wide FOV of the TM15 when hunting in the woods.
When I'm hunting alone I'll usually...
