These guns are absolutely a blast to shoot. Have wanted a MP5 since the GIGN used them to take back a high jacked airliner in 1994. If it was good enough for the Elite French Counterterrorism team it is good enough for me. It also doesn't hurt the cool factor that Bruce Willis used them in Die Hard.
The SP5 is the semi auto version of the select fire MP5, made in Germany by H&K. The century arms AP5 is made in Turkey licensed by H&K with H&K tools. The AP5 doesn’t feel as smooth feeling as the H&K, it is 1400 dollar cheaper than the SP5 so there is that. It could be my imagination or gun snobbery. Both are fitted with the SB Tactical Brace and wear Silencerco 46 Hybrid suppress
The Break in period is about 300-500 rounds and they should be cleaned every 300 rounds, which is pretty much one range day. Due to the delayed roller design the bolt is lighter than most PDWs, the cyclic rate of fire is 900 rounds per minute and it has very little recoil almost none.
I have installed the Lee Sporting aluminum lower with the Warhammer super safety on the SP5 (not pictured) a forced reset trigger that mimics full auto. 30 round mags gone in 2 seconds. While it is expensive it is fun. The super safety required an additional 300 round break in. The AP5 will get the same setup when Warhammer gets them back in stock.
I have a mixture of MKE and H&K mags they, in my guns they run the same, without hiccups. The H&K mags are about 50 bucks more than the MKE mags.
They have become my favorite bump in the night guns. I mean counterterrorism guns.
