This would probably not fly in Syracuse, as a school or non school sanctioned activity, or even an after school activity not associated with the School district.

Hunting laws in NYS allow kids of age 12 to shoot guns and small game,, but the Hochul laws incarcerate any such child in a Division for Youth concentration camp, should he enthusiastically talk about guns and trap shooting...he is a clear danger to the community.

Back in the day, I took my grandson trap shooting at Bridgeport.........age 12 or so....youth league
I was not arrested...............statute has run, I hope.

I did get in trouble ,when he took his B-29 model to school, when hobby day came in grade school.....Heis a lawyer in NYC now..........has no use for school district communists.

Great news!!

Guns, boxes of shell, clay birds and membership must cost a bit, like the ski clubs.
I reload, and it still costs me for the round, and the reload costs, ..... about $10/round, x 4 = $30 a session, plus a good gun.
Xpensive.

Almost if not all the High Schools in our area (Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, St. Lawrence, etc.) have Trap Teams under the banner of "New York State High School Clay Target League" Home - New York State High School Clay Target League and while there were bumps with covid, and the cost/availability of Ammunition (and reloading supplies) I can assure you these young folks have overcome the obstacles and shoot a hell of a lot better than many of us that have done it for years. Local sponsorship comes from the Clubs and they compete under the "Northern Tier Trap League". Northern Tier Trap League - Breaking Clays since 1970
The commies haven't got 'em all brainwashed, and up in St. Lawrence there are High School Rifle Teams as well as CMP Training and Matches.
If you're in the Massena area, PLEASE stop by the Massena Rifle & Pistol Club where there'll be a Schuetzen Match on Saturday June 24th.

Back in the old days when I was in school, we kept our rifles in the pickup truck window rack. Parked in the school parking lot. Didn't lock the doors either.

I took my Hunter safely at school. We were told that if we drove to school, leave our guns in our cars. If you were riding the bus, put it in the principal's office.

I'm glad to see there are still high school teams out there

Your kids can't talk about the trap league they shoot in, but anal sex class is mandatory.

Bills proposed by the NYC "BLAC" Caucus seldom if ever apply critical thinking skills, which is why they go to Committee and require identical language Bills from the Senate, even then, in years to follow they "fix" the fuck-ups (something we'll soon find out about with the CCIA and other asinine Legislation passed at the same time)

I hope it spreads around and most school start to pick it up.....maybe pushed or started by the kids themselves...
