I had a Marlin lever gun in 444 back some 25 years ago. That son of a bitch kicked like a mule!
It did get me started down the road of shooting and hunting with .44 magnums though.

Bullet Weight/Velocity
240 gr - 2350 fps
265 gr - 2200 fps
300 gr - 2000 fps
now the 44 mag in the same weights
240 gr - 1450 fps
265 gr - 1350 fps
300 gr - 1250 fps
444 marlin seems like a handful out of a pistol. Hopefully that revolver has some gravity.
