So I have spent some time now with the ruger ready dot sight. Currently have a total of 2500 rounds while using it on my I first ran it on my Sig P365 Xmacro, then my Ruger RXM and finally on my shadow systems CR920X. I have experienced no breakages or failures of the optic, nor has the zero ever shifted. For a non zero able, fiber optic powered red dot I am impressed. For its intended purpose (5-25 yards on a toro sized target using sub compact / compact sized 9mm handgun in defensive type shooting) it has worked very well. This optic is not meant for precision bullseye target shooting. It is intended with its 15moa dot to be used in general range use or in a defensive situation. For that type of shooting it works very well. As long as you have enough light for fiber optic iron sights to work then you have enough light for the ruger ready dot to work. It cowitnesses well with standard height sights and pairs nicely with a weapon light or iron night sights. At first I was apprehensive about a non zerable red dot. The 15 MOA dot works well enough for most handguns and allows you to quickly put rounds on target. Everyone who has tried it has been impressed by it. For a sub $100 optic that never needs batteries it does exactly what it intends to do. I do wish the concept would be taken further and to see this type of optic with a metal housing like titanium or aluminum that is better suited to duty use. (ie survive multiple drops by an officer and being non zero able the officer can’t screw up their zero by trying to adjust it) maybe also incorporate tritium somehow so it will work in no light situations. All in all I recommend the optic and I plan on picking up a few more.
