It took me like 4 reads to understand that the driver of the tractor trailer, shot at another tractor trailer. The grammar use of that article is like horrid.

A couple weeks ago my wife did a really dumb thing that I have warned her about.
She was driving down a rural county road.....between Busti NY and Panama NY.
There was a pick up truck tailgating her at about 50 miles an hour.
The speed limit was 45, but she allowed this guy to push her faster.
She finally pulled over to let him pass.
As he passed.......she flicked him off......and thats the first dumb thing!!
He break checked her HARD, got out of his truck and hammer fist pounded on her windshield. He stopped so quick that she was too close to his truck to go around. She hesitated a bit to long and he was out of his truck very quickly....... she said.
She reversed, then U turned and came home.
She was very scared, but well trained enough to NOT pull out her handgun.
She said her first instinct was to reach for the gun, but her cool head prevailed.
Now, if she points this guy out to me, I hope MY cool head prevails.

Time for a PSA for all that don't have one..... Invest in a decent dash cam. They are not expensive.

I commend the restraint...
But let me ask, when would she think it would've been appropriate to arm herself where the firearm was usable if need be? What if he had something hidden in his hand and broke the drivers window to get at her. While being physically engaged with an attacker would be too late to get to that firearm potentially!
Reaching for and having the gun handy but not brandishing it is entirely two different things! But should the encounter had gone south... It would've been better to have it and ready to use it. Then have it sitting there untouched!
By the way, if course after event debriefing is easy (20-20 vision)... On that note, was there a dash cam? Lol... I advocate a dash cam in every car these days! At least one camera forward and if you can, add another in the rear! No GPS of course as that can be used against you. Just pure video recording...

Of course I was not there, but this is the way we learn.
My wife has never been in any type of altercation, not even a cross word with someone. We train a lot around here. A lot of getting to your gun and getting the first shot.......her skills are decent. But......being a passive person, her decision about TAKING that shot may need work. She does not want to hurt anyone, even an angry road rager. I have drilled it in to her head that too much hesitation and a bad guy could take your firearm. I have to temper that so she doesn't make the wrong decision and commit murder. This is a very tough thing with a complete non gun person who understands and wants to carry a gun for defense. When IS the right time?
Us gun people, who understand the laws backwards and forwards and eat, breath and live for our right to defend ourselves may sometimes not understand how others do not research and constantly think about defense, situational awareness, watching your 6, watch the bad guys hands......
"Normal" people do not think like we do.
For instance, if you have a loved one who isn't necessarily a gun person, but carries a gun, try some high pressure drills with them......safely.
Many non-defense minded people will freeze before they act.
We are working on that.
For this reason, she has been carrying a gen 1 Shield 9mm with the little tiny thumb safety. If for some reason a bad guy does get her gun, she may get that few seconds to act while the baddy tries to figure out the gun. She can put an absolute ass whooping on an unsuspecting baddy.
And no, her 2013 Nissan Rouge does not have a camera. My truck has one built in. I've told her many times to get a camera and I get the, "yea, I will".

I REALLY should have said in my post that he pounded 2x on the windshield, then walked back to his truck bitching. I believe he realized this was a single woman and decided to take a different approach.
By the time he actually started getting in his truck, she was going 75mph the opposite way.
Being that she flicked him off and he only pounded 2x.......then was rather soft about his return to his truck, saying things like "use your head", " don't be dumb"...deadly force may have been more trouble than it was worth. She DID tell me she was looking at his hands and looking for a weapon......she is learning well.
My wife said he sounded like me or her dad chewing her out.
I should have also said, she wasn't very scared of him.....we are working on that too.
Well in all fairness, that Degree in Journalism wasn't exactly hard to get.
