The gun shoots well enough. It's just rather crude mannered. The action is gritty and clunky. I want to polish what I need to in order to make it cycle smoothly and without hangups.
Friend of mine just picked up a Guide Gun (he's on his way to Alaska to work as a Packer for a Guide up there) they are a stout and well designed Rifle, while mine is just the way it came from Marlin, the idea of "upgrading" things like the magazine follower from plastic to metal, maybe the Lever (they are expensive) I can't change the sights on mine because they're Dove Tail, although yours are likely different, Timmney Offers a Trigger setup, heavier springs, etc. Good stones and abrasive erasers to de-burr sharp edges, do be aware of the loading gate screw and that it's under tension at an angle; have to press the spring arm in flat, hold it in place, then screw it down. (new screw might be a good idea) if it backs out it will jam the action from operating.
) and the gun shot just fine. The target was about 65 to 70 yards away, and the big gun cut the ½" re-bar target stand in half. Spat welded it back together and we kept shooting.
