WTB semi auto 22 rifle made in 2011

This might be a long shot....

My son will be turning 6 this coming Spring. I'll be starting him out with a BB gun, but when the time comes in a year or two, I want his first gun to be a .22 that was made the same year he was born. Does anyone have a semi auto 22 rifle that was made in 2011 that they're willing to part with? New or in very good condition preferred.

Nope. Just thought of it because I'm starting to research what pellet/bb gun to buy.

I have an unfired Marlin 60 (perhaps a perfect gun for that purpose) that I picked up last year or so but I don't know it's date of manufacture. Marlin used to have an easy way to figure out dates via serial , but I don't think it applies anymore; at least not in the way that I'm aware of.

I've heard that since 2000, the first two numbers of the model 60 represent the year, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

My son saw "Last of the Mohicans" when he was still in diapers. All my children still love that movie 22 years later. My son started running around with his hockey stick as a rifle. I had to put a sling on it. This was his thing for years. Eventually I got him a BB gun with the understanding that he treat it as a real firearm, no BS, no being stupid. We set up a track on the back acre that he would run and shoot at targets we set up as a course. He graduated to a bolt action .22, and then we were in a gunshop one day when he was a teenager, maybe 16, and his eye catches a beautiful bolt action Husquaverna 30.06 w/ really nice wood Manlicher stock. He's never put a scope on it, it's got nice peep sights. Since he started college he hasn't shot it much, He graduated Honors program and worked, but Graduate School has brought him back home for a semester as an intern, so he got his hunting liscense for this year and has broken out his '06.

You may want to confirm but you many not want a Marlin made in 2011, I forget the actual years but that is around the time frame Remington took over, the 22s are not so great.

Hunt down a CZ scout bolt action, No better youth rifle out there for the money. Once he's older he can drop it into a Boyds stock. If they ever put some mil trainer sights on them I'd get one for myself. It'll out shoot every entry level US made 22LR on the market, I have shot a fair amount and it will gave Target Ruger 10/22s a run for their money. The only better youth 22 I've ever shot was an aunschutz.

I like Goyabean's idea. Maybe there's a chance that Henry has a NOS .22 that they could engrave.
Sure would be a special day for that.

When I got my first rifle I wanted a BB gun. My parents told me to save up for a few months and they'd go pick one out. That day came and they came back with a new Marlin .22 bolt gun! Made a great day even better for me.
