Seeing who's prosecuting this case and knowing none of the facts, I'm inclined to side with the trooper.

I'm going to speculate that if this guy quietly handed over his license, registration and insurance, he wouldn't have gotten maced. And if he didn't try to flee, his kid wouldn't be dead.

Not enough detail for me to form a reasonable opinion. I do have a hard time understanding his decision to ram a car with multiple children inside of it. The father is absolutely at fault as well for placing his family in that position but what did the trooper imagine would happen? Either way this trooper is gonna get screwed.
