Canaseraga Creek is a stream that flows through Livingston, Steuben, and Allegany Counties in western and central New York. It is a tributary of the Genesee River.

and depending on were you are ..

down stream from me was a chicken farm on the edge of the creek .. LOL


hell we fished it , swam in it , and even drank it as kids ..

i can not think of anyone of us kids getting sick from the creek water ..

today i would go drink this water if needed and not even think about water issues ..

Your biggest thing is lacking room . Put up shelving in the cellar Perhaps even a food pantry with a locked door .
A freezer would be good with a generator . Along with Spat we went through the ice storm also ...One week without electric. A freezer does not have to run 24/7 on electric. A half an hour night and morning could suffice depending on the weather. I am on a drilled well I can bail enough for my needs there is also this .

I can use Wood, White gas, Kerosene,Diesel,Unleaded gas ,Charcoal , Butane, Propane to cook with.
If you have a fireplace ... How much wood will you keep on hand and after 2-3 weeks how do you keep it after a disaster hits. ... Lots of folks will be using that five finger discount. ....I have a neighbor that uses wood all winter and his stack of wood is like 200 ft long 4 ft high. Folks that drove by his home 5 years ago will remember that pile when they are freezing in the winter.

You need to stock up on medications also China makes a lot of them.. Also Extra gloves, clothes, shoes , boots and the like. The list could go on and on...

She treats my stuff like a grocery store, and never replaces anything.

Just this morning, she made me blueberry pancakes. I stock real maple syrup. She handed me dollar store garbage and said we are out of "the other kind".

The real stuff is gone. All of it. WTF?!?!

They are like locusts. I don't buy the groceries. I brought home a few hundred pounds of beef last year. They were all excited about it, and asked if we can eat any of it.

If you're doing it right, you *do* eat it all the time. And replace it just as fast (or faster to build stock)

That's the best way to fine tune your stock, and keep it fresh.


When SHTF is it better to have stuff all bought in the last 12 months that you've been eating quite happily all along, or stuff you bought 5 years ago and find out you don't like ?


Just tell them "sure, we can eat this beef, but as soon as you're 1/4 way done with it, I'm buying another 200lbs"

Learn to brew beer, the components last for years, and enough bottles of vitamin pills to get you over the hump and yer good to go.

We grow hops…pellitized and vacuum packed they will last a couple years in the freezer.
Get your orders in early ladies and gentlemen.
We also grow veggies and stay as organic as we can.

Leak diverter tarps are a good way to collect rainwater, requiring less processing than that from a shingled roof.

One 5' x 5' tarp will fetch almost 4 gallons from a quarter-inch rainfall. They are easy to deploy and keep cleaner than gutters & downspouts. Also, since they are deployable they are less likely to draw unwanted attention.

I prefer the 5' x 5' sized tarps. Easier to manage and less stress on the grommets during a heavy rainfall than the larger ones, but one 10' x 10' tarp will get 4 times as much water. YMMV.
