We can agree it would suck to get shot with a .50 while wearing that vest, but it sure sucks more to take one in the chest without it.

Peter Wallace suffered a cardiac arrest as a result of the blow he received from a horse at a harness racing event at Haugh Field Farm near Stirling in Scotland on September 3.
The 65-year-old, from Woodland in Teesdale, was taken to the Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert for treatment but sadly died later that day.

And just think. The force of a BMG projectile hitting your chest is probably quite a bit more than a kick by a horse. Even with that armor on. That's why I say I'd rather the projectile just go through. Or not have the vest at all. Exactly this. I'd rather never even know I got hit than bleed internally for 2 days and suffer.
That's super impressive. It would be a sweet armor system to use because you would have protection against exotic and AP rounds.
But like others have already said, surviving the immediate .50bmg strike to just slowly die because your organs have turned to jello doesn't sound fun.
