He stopped short of saying that his deputies would not enforce any of the sensitive places bans. Or perhaps that just wasn't reported in the story. I wonder.

I think in the last quote it was definitely implied.

“They can be inadvertently made into a criminal, by this new gun law that goes into effect on Sept. 1,” he said. “I think the law is egregious, and it’s unconstitutional. But these are people that obey the law, that follow the rules, and they care deeply about their communities. So they don’t want to get caught on the wrong side of state police.”

My suspicion is that he has instructed his deputies to ignore that aspect of the law, but I would like for him to come out and openly state it. I would like to hear ALL the County Sheriffs do so. If he's not willing to do so, is he really protecting you ? He may fold if Hochul puts pressure on him. Take a stance. Show yourself for what you are. I'm concerned that he wants the citizens of his County to see him as being on their side, while at the same time having Albany view him as a reliable authority in their quest for enforcement of the law.

This is the problem when your local community is so dependent on the state or feds for help. They cannot bite the hand that feeds.

Financial independence is the path towards freedom. Stop taking the money because there is a cost.
