Albany proposes tech to limit your speed to 5 MPH above limit. As of now it's targeted at those with serious violations but expect it to spread like cancer to everyone if the bill passes. This crap already passed in Virginia (the land of jail time for speeding and no radar detectors).

I was going to mention this but this seems to be for "bad drivers" not across the board. The same as breathalyzers for DWI offenders. Heres a thought, revoke licenses for people with too many points like the system is suppose to be

11 points in 18 months is the limit for suspension. Fix the broken system not add on more bullshit.

So, revoking their DL will keep them from driving? How many news article have you read about people being ticketed multiple times for driving on a revoked DL? These people don't give a frick; they will never be put in jail, in NY, for driving on a suspended/revoked license. They know this, so it's a non-issue. Hell, you guys don't put people in jail for armed robbery! Maybe, just maybe, seizing the vehicle with very heavy fines to retrieve it might make a difference, but NY does not have the stomach for that....disproportionatley affects the poor and minority drivers.

so why not do, what they do in almost every state west of the Mississippi. Raise the speed limit to 75, and parts of Rt-10, 40, 20, and 30 are 80mph.

I rarely go over 62mph. I have never had any problems with going 62, NO ONE has even honked, flipped me off, cut me off or break checked me

Just make sure your "Under-insured and non-insured", on YOUR policy is up-to-date. Like $75 and $150K. incase someone with little to no insurance gets you in a jam.

It's just more people control in the usual guise of public safety. IMO
I consider this a stepping stone to eventually gaining even more control over the citizenry.
This law, over time, will probably be expanded to ah never mind.

I'll just file this under "slippery slope."

Just set it to the limit. Oh right, that would drive down a tremendous amount of state and local revenue. I'm sure the state will receive reporting from your vehicle and your EZ Pass will be charged for all violation 5mph over. The municipalities will fight over their cut. :ROFL: :beer:

wait until they implement a "charge per mile" using GPS, RFID/Transponders to track how far the vehicle traveled.

If I had to take a guess I would say we will follow CA's soon to be progressive penal system. But I can imagine NY expanding on that with the registration of cars, insurance and fines. All will be progressive payment system. The more money you have the higher the fees and fines. Less you have the lower they will be. It won't be long til they implement voter registration preference into the equation.

NY is hemorrhaging money under this progressive state government. :beer:

So, someone who should have been locked up long ago for egregious motor vehicle offenses, finally kills someone with their car. NY solution: Propose a law that limits the speed on cars driven by people that should be locked up for egregious motor vehicle offenses. Derp!

Legal or not, clearly it's done: Guy near me has a highly modified 2020's Mustang that wears Montana Plates...friend had a Hummer that they could never get to pass emissions (CEL) so they registered it in FL...seems the "tuners" that can't make emissions go this route.
Maine and Oklahoma seem to be big ones for registering Trailers: Done a few myself!
With all the Military folks around here, out of State plates are the norm, so the Cops don't pay much attention to the vehicle, just the actions.
I drove for years with a FL Licenses, and when asked/told I had to have a NY Licenses I told them I was a Student...end of that discussion.

Minorities cannot be arrested for anything in NYC................this animal was out of control, will claim Trump did it.........vehicular manslaughter...........but likely only killed minorities, and the Twins may have some of her wigs.....expect her to be out on free bail and back to Iran for a vacation.
