I had a chance to shoot one of these yesterday. What a nice little gun, light very smooth trigger, easily pointable, and fits right in my front pocket! Had about a fist sized group at 15 yards with fairly rapid fire three different times.
I'd buy one if it wasn't such a hassle these dats.

It is a great deep carry. I have one in 38+P. Range gun it is not. One or two cylinders is ok. After that the Airweight part comes clear. Great deep carry and defense gun.

I have a Ruger LCR in .38+P and it's light, it doesn't snag, and it's not fun to shoot compared to the Kimber K6R or Detective Special.

I have one with a bobbed hammer and titanium cylinder. It's my winter carry. The holy grail of that model is the 6 shot 32 H&R.

Altamont also makes a pretty nice J frame boot grip that conceals pretty well

I used to always carry a purchase coupon with me in case I met up with the deal of the century. I ended up with an awful lot of really nice deal of the week guns! Then I figured out that if I didn't have that coupon in my wallet I could save a lot of money. Now this shit hole does it for me. FUNY!

Yeah sorry, I should have mentioned that the company has been going through some issues. You can source them through Robertson trading company on ebay though. They sell the J frame Tyler grip adapter at a pretty reasonable price. There are a couple of secondary sellers on there as well.

I myself am still rather fond of my little 340PD

Yes, an 11.8 oz .357. I like to describe it as entertainingly ridiculous. I carry .38 +p in it anyway. .357s are amusing though......for maybe 2 cylinders worth.
For grips I think the Crimson Trace laser grips make a lot of sense for a defensive J Frame, the laser allows for accurate hip shots which is ideal for this kind of pistols though the price CT charges is ridiculous.
Mine fulfills a very niche yet very useful roles:
Its the getting them mail, running to the corner store gun, the gun I carry when it doesn't makes sense to put on a proper pair of belted pants and a proper holster.
The other role is perhaps even more useful- its the gun I carry when it might not be appropriate to be seen with any kind of gun at all, the little 340 I can stick in a pocket and keep under wraps no matter the situation but still have something.
In one instance I had a daliance with a woman that was none to appreciative of guns. Sporting a pistol in a belt holster or shoulder holster would have put a.........damper on the evening. But the little S&W could just remain in the pocket with none the wiser. I also carry it in situations where my destination I cannot have a gun on me. A pocket gun is much easier to discreetly remove, store and replace into service in a short period in a parking lot. I don't carry this gun often but I am very glad I have it when I do carry it.
And again it is a ridiculous hoot to shoot at the range. With full house. 357 loads it is LOUD! people invariably come over to see what the hell I'm shooting which then generates considerable amusement for me should someone want to give it a go.
I love the stupid little thing, I really do.

To be honest I don't quite get people having trouble shooting. 38s out of these things. Hard to hit with, okay sure I get that but recoil wise?
I can't even tell the difference between +p and standard .38s in my gun and I'll go through 200 or even 500 rounds in a session and it's no big deal at all. Feels perfectly normal. .357s I'll do 2 cylinders, first one is hilarious, second one and I'm good. Once I mistakenly loaded a 3rd cylinder of .357 instead of the intended .38s and thought "yeah, that's quite enough of that".

Simply seek to penetrate 12-18 inches through 4 layers of denim with reliable expansion of roughly twice the initial diameter. Whatever numbers and bullets get me to that is fine. A good .38 + P load can JUST about do that. A .357 can do it easily and explosively.
I did purchase a moderate quantity of 125gr Golden Saber BONDED JHP in .38 Special specifically for carry in my 340PD. This load has been shown to meet FBI testing standards, albeit barely, in small snub nose revolvers. I find this load to have low recoil, low flash and outstanding accuracy in the 340PD. My other revolver a 586 L-Comp I favor the tried and true 125gr Remington SJHP .357 load which has a long history of turning badguy's insides to mush. For woods carry in PA I like the 158gr Hornady XTP. Or at least I will once the 586 regime my trust after TWO trips back to Smith for repair of defects. 300 rounds since it's second trip back and so far so good.
