Recommendations for a Thermal Rifle Optic

I talked to Cameron for over an hour today. He was saying the sensor in the new v2 are really good, the 320 would have been a good choice for my uses. Little high base mag than I want though. Over the Rix, he said he had the Nocpix L25 which is a 385 with 2x base mag and is really a great new thermal. Has a great mount design and already has a magnetic cord and port for external battery.
Should have it by Monday.

Is that what you ordered ? A Nocpix Slim L25 ? Was I wrong about Cameron ?

2.5 - 3.5 base mag is what I would want for coyote hunting. Nothing less and nothing more.

I own a RIX S3 for a buddy scope and a Iray TH50c for a personal scope.
The 384 RIX is much further than a 100yd scope. I would say more like a 300yd scope.

I certainly wouldn't buy a AGM first generation Rattler. My Super Hogster was way nicer than my buddies Rattler because of detector pixel size. Mine was 12um, his was 17um. Smaller is better, better clarity. Plus his reticle sucked.

I paid 3200 for my Hogster, my RIX S3 is nicer for 1500. Almost the same specs. Hogster was a 384-12um with 2.9 base mag. RIX S3 is a 384-12um with a 3.5 base mag. The Rix is smaller, very light, uses 18650 batteries, has shot controlled video. Its a super nice 384 resolution scope.

I killed 3 coyotes a couple of weeks ago with the Iray. Last kill was at 330yds. I could of made that shot with my Rix. Base mag is a huge contributing factor when it comes to buying a scope, so is pixel size and resolution. Nothing less than 384, nothing more than 12um. Nothing less than 2.5 base, nothing more than 3.5 base. In all honesty, I wouldn't go less than 3.

Yes I ordered it while I was on the phone with him at the end of the conversation. Super helpful and gave me a good price on it.

When you get your scope, you'll need to order a few batteries. Wait to get the scope, so you order the right ones. I've bought dozens of batteries from ORBTRONIC. Excellent to deal with. I bought a 4 port smart charger from him too.

The reason I say wait is because I ordered a half dozen batteries (flat top) and then found out I needed button top. DOH !! He was good about the return, and quickly got me what I needed.

I won't say it wasn't him for sure, but I don't think so. I don't believe he does the gun show circuit. I know KENZIE'S has tables at gun shows all over the northeast and they sell a bunch of thermal and nightvision products. I'm betting that's who you encountered.

It does come with two 18650 and a charger. They’re flat top so I can’t use the ones I already have. I’ll look that place up.

I gave you my thoughts. I'm thinking it won't be long before you realize that you should of bought a higher base mag scope. Lower base mag scanner, even lower than 2 is good but,,,,,,,,,,, well I already told you my opinion.

The L25 has a base magnification of 2.5X. I think he'll be pleased with his choice. Also, comparing the L25 to the Rix S3, the L25 has better NETD specs of <18 mK as opposed to the S3's <25 mK. I don't think you could go wrong with either scope. They have nearly identicle specs across the board.

Personally, yes, I like the higher magnification. But I hunt big open fields.
