What do you think of the quality? I bought a woodmaxx 3pt chipper and other than the main housing which was made well, it looked like they took sheet steel, cut it with a chisel and dragged it across a rock to get it to the desired shape. The welding and obligatory grinding was equally
atrocious. There was also numerous design failures that really made it not the best machine.

This is absurd, it really is. I used my snowblower for a while the other day and I used up using about 1-2 gallon of gasoline if that. The number of times I use my snowblower is ridiculously low compared to anything else.
The same goes for my leaf blower. I use it 2-3 times a year so why go after them. I don’t care if they ban them in NYS. Mine is 4-stage and takes gas and oil separately so I’ll bet it’s no where near as bad as they claim. On top of that what cop is going to come and write me a ticket for using it? If they do oh well I’ll either pay it or not. I mean really will they issue a warrant for my arrest for using a leaf blower? This would have to get pushed flap far up the ladder it’s not even funny. It’s absurd they even bother with this crap.

Your better off getting an older one and rebuilding it. New stuff tends to be garbage. We got a new toro at work and the joystick on it feels flimsy and too many components are plastic. First run in single digits temps and it'll shatter.

In other news, I think I might have a plan for a new snowblower.

My dad has a new cub cadet and it is awesome. Clears snow very quickly and appears to be made well. He did have to replace the carb though. It’s only 1-2 years old so that’s disappointing but seems common these days.

These karens that are worried about the noise of a gas snow blower must not have ever heard an electric one.
Since most electric are snow THROWERS, not snow blowers, you have the high-pitched whine of the electric motor coupled with the nagging "whap-whap-whap" of the PLASTIC thrower on pavement. They are easily as noisy, or noisier, than a gas snow blower.
They also won't last as long if battery powered, and, in my personal experience, have a tendency to chew up the extension cord if it's a corded model (go ahead...ask me how I know).
I have an old Troy-bilt tracked snow blower I bought used for $100. The electric start won't work (starter won't even try to turn and the flywheel is missing a tooth), I never drain the carb, haven't changed the oil, and never even looked at the friction clutch, just replaced a shear pin or two. Every November or December, when I put the motorcycle away for the winter, I get it to fire up using a shot of ether. After that it's two primes and a quick pull and it fires up almost every time.
If der eyebrows fuhrer wants it, it'll cost her $5million and she, personally, needs to be here at 4AM to shovel out the driveway whenever there's more than 3" overnight.

For someone who snowblows a 120 yard driveway, and in front of my mailbox, and cuts trails in the yard for my puny dog, electric just isnt viable. Its 1.5- 2 hours of constant use. Obviously the ones proposing this have a single car driveway.

Is he running ethanol fuel? I only run non-ethanol fuel in all my gas equipment except vehicles. I've had issues with engines gumming up and not running right, even ones that say E-10 is ok. It sucks because its more expensive up front, but fewer repairs and breakdown (gas related) is the payoff.

Huh. You know, now that you mention it, I bet that's why I have to replace stuff in my For 8N every couple of years. It was definitely not built for ethanol.

Something about all of this makes me wonder.....If someone did a study on how much greenhouse gas my snowblower, weedeater and lawnmower produce in a year then compare that to how much gas comes out of the ninnies that constantly whine about this shit, and add it to the gas from the blowhard politicians that are all for banning the machines, would we find out that power equipment is far more eco-friendly than people are ?

What about comparing the gas emissions from a power mower to the emissions from a person pushing an old reel type mower to mow the same property ? What would that show ? In addition to saving man-hours to do the job, I think the power mower might produce less emissions.

Just more of those stupid things I type in the middle of the night.
