Even if you make an unknowing error, they would still have to prove intent to pursue criminal charges. I can only imagine NYSP will just ask for you to contact them within X amount of days to correct the error should they find one, before they start knocking on doors.

Well, let's look at it realistically. Perjury is typically something DAs don't pursue unless there is a good amount of evidence. A missing field on a form, or an incorrect value, isn't going to prove intent. If anything, it shows your intent to try and fill it out.
All they can really do is require you contact them to fix the error, otherwise they'd have so many days in court it would be insane for them -- most of which would be fairly easy cases on the part of any good trial lawyer.
So I don't really see any other options for them other than sending a notice in advance of showing up at your door.

I'll have you know that back window is the best looking part of that truck.
I put stickers on there that either further political philosophies I support and want to promote (Guns Save Lives) or groups who's ideals I support (SCOPE might be coming off soon). I view them as a political statement and I'm willing to take whatever heat comes my way because of it. I'm also willing to engage in a dialog with anyone who might want to discuss them.
I've driven that truck with those stickers in most of the 5 boroughs of NYC, in northern NJ, in CT and I think even in MA. I never worried about vandalism because of the stickers.
I stop by Homedepot, BJ's or Wal-Mart in Monroe several times a week. Any of the people I've seen there are either too busy to care what stickers you have on your vehicle or seem too stupid to be able to read them.

I was also thinking of getting a tattoo on my forehead with a picture of a dying fetus. You know so I can tell the world my stance on abortion. It's important to me. I'm not sure though. There are a lot of hasidics at Home Depot though on Sundays. They don't like tattoos.
On a side note, when you are in the city with your beat up truck that you could care less about scratching, what's your normal preference of carrying? Appendix or 4 o'clock? Or do you carry openly? (You know. For personal convictions and such.) I'm guessing openly. How else will the world know?
