Low grain 9mm +P+ FMJ?

Does anyone know of such a round in FMJ?

I'm trying to get the most out of my 16 inch barreled carbine. I know Corbon has a 90 gr +P+ that'll hit velocities of about 1750 fps out of a 16 inch barrel but unfortunately, it is a hollow point that'll probably fragment to hell at those velocities once in soft tissue.

Light weight high velocity rounds don't seem to perform that well in tests, they typically under penetrate. Or are you just looking for flat trajectory range screamers?

2000 doesn't make any sense for that kind of section.
Don't want sectional density to fall so low. The 115gr +P+ are very flat shooting and perform a lot better.
No need to get outside 115-130gr. Look at critical duty 130 equivalent to 40 cal terminal ballistics.
Also if you like power look at corbon, underwood and bufalo bore superchaged stuff.
Make sure you have a modern pistol that can take the heat like a glock, sig, etc..

147gr are good also. The 147gr standard pressure was my prefered round but now I am switching to the 124gr as I hear that's what the Shield shoots to point of aim. This bears some testing. I can't wait to come off the road to play with my new toys!

Not a good one. Some people upgrade the recoil spring and might put a buffer. Sometimes is snake oil or perhaps whatever might feel a bit better to to the shooter.
Preventive maintenance is a good thing one way of another. People train with the +p carry stuff but when shooting a lot people do not use top shelf hot carry ammo
the first thing is because is so expensive.

If you want brutal speed and horse power in small package, the 357SIG is the ticket.
Make sure you buy full power ammo and not the underpressure ammo many sell.

I think with compact pistols it makes more sense to compensate with grain vs. speed due to the short
barrel. Not enough barrel to be efficient and as a result more muzzle flash. In this case perhaps the
lighter bullets with even faster powders might give more. But personally for compact or anything
below a semi compact (~3.5") I go for grain vs. speed. Check out the critical duty 130gr. Also federal hst 147gr
and gold dot 124. The compact glocks and shield love those.

I'm looking for a high speed low weight FMJ for barrier penetation. The HP's if pushed to over 1750 fps like the Corbons will probably just fragment with little penetration.

Basically I'm trying to get the most speed possible with a FMJ.

This is for a carbine and not a pistol.

I thought about those but would have to figure out a way to prevent the hollow point from working. In a carbine, they go 2500 fps which if I got them to not expand, they would behave like a rifle rounds with a permanent stretch cavity.

Maybe JB Weld or Loctite?

Probably more trouble than they are worth.

I might have to go with Buffalo Bore. They do have a 124 gr flat nosed +P+

Found one. Underwood 90 gr+P+ at 1550fps out of a pistol. I'd imagine it would scream out of a 16 inch carbine.

Someone in the reviews got a 1740 fps 10 shot average out of a 16 inch barrel.

The only thing is that they are that weird Phillips Head Screw shaped bullet.

What is the application here? Those rounds zip through ballistic gel like it's not there. More so out of a carbine. I don't think they will fragment.

The application is barrier penetration. My carbine will be taken if I bug out in lieu of a rifle. I would have half my mags in HP and half my mags in FMJ for added penetration if needed.

I am sure those would do the trick. TN9 outdoors tested those and they sailed through over 25" of ballistics gel and through a few water jugs.

After a couple years and many thousands of rounds, I can attest that the 9mm Shield loves 124gr ammo.
For practice I ususlly use Winchester white box FMJ and for carry Federal or Hornady, but always 124gr.
I routinely shoot more accurate with 124gr for whatever reason.

I have tested at 7yrds, 10yrds and 15yrds. Ive used a few methods to hold the gun steady, including a vice. When held steady in the vice or with a sand bag, there isnt much difference between 115, 124 and 147 grain. However, when held with no support, I noticeably shoot better with 124gr. No idea why but it keeps happening.

Penetration is useless if there is no slug and nothing but dust after. So look for a solid bullet. Underwood is a good company. Hot stuff.

The sweet spot is 14" for 9mm. After that it starts loosing speed. .... 357SIG will use the 16 of the std. carbine barrel for a full burn and get 200-300 extra fps with the same bullet.
