2019 Camden Rod and Gun Club Annual Raffle

No one enforces the raffle laws in this state. Police agencies have no jurisdiction. State ATTY. Gen's. office is responsible, but doesn't give a damn. They just make you jump thru some hoops to get some extra permit money from you. Work will be started today - will be an ongoing thing at the club for a while. If no one else happens to be there - we will try to leave a list of anything that may need to be done.

It doesn’t sound like you’re worried about it, but you could always just do cash raffles or gun store gift card raffles instead of gun raffles. I’d buy a ticket or two. I missed out and I was kicking myself.

Yes, we are very close to being finished up with a complete interior rebuild.
We stripped the interior down to the bare studs and installed new insulation, updated some wiring, new drywall, new floor, new ceiling, new kitchen cabinets, new bathroom fixtures, etc.
The indoor pistol range backstop is still under construction. Estimated to be finished be the end of the month.

We did some work ourselves and hired some done. Between donations, volunteers, and our reserve fund, we are recovering.


With the new paint, etc., now the problem is that the inside of the clubhouse almost looks too sterile.

I’ve been there before and can’t imagine how it happened. Then again, I was there for the indoor range and not conducting a property survey

Well, the club has pretty well recovered from the flooding. Our indoor pistol range is not yet re-opened, but should be soon, probably by the end of January or the first part of February. There is some new ballistic steel that is being added to modify the backstops, and some ballistic rubber stuff to be applied in replacement of the beds of sand that were previously on the indoor pistol range. The building itself was actually gutted, to get all the water damage repaired properly. A lot of outside excavation was also necessary to correct some drainage problems that contributed to the flooding. Ditches were installed parallel to the berm along our 200 yard rifle range, and culverts installed running beneath the range to allow for drainage, flooding shouldn't be a problem in the future. A huge amount of the work has been completed by club members, and much had to be contracted out - 2 furnaces had to be replaced, along with all the cabinetry throughout the club and kitchen facilities. The local Lowe's, in Rome, became aware of our plight, and were generous enough to donate to us some great kitchen cabinetry they had on display, that they were discontinuing from their lines. To date, our expenses are probably hedging toward 100 k, - not good for our over-all, long term plan, but we will survive. A large amount of members and friends have donated generously towards these expenses, and donated most generously with their time and hard work to get this project finished. We plan on having an open house thing on April 25, to kind of show off the 'new place' - and thank the people who have done so much to help. All ranges and trap & skeet facilities will be operating that day, for anyone that wants to come and do some shooting. To help get us back in the black, we recently added a one time 'initiation fee' of $ 25 in addition to our $ 45.00 annual dues, so a new membership will cost $ 70.00 the first year, and our dues will remain at $ 45.00 per year after that. We try to keep the dues low, but we thought this one time initiation fee wouldn't hurt too bad.

As for our annual GUN RAFFLE - this years prizes will be the same as last years list. Frank's Shooting Supply in Canastota will be handling the firearms. Tickets are now available, same prices - $ 25.00 -- 15 guns, and 15 gift certificates, alternating days. - average prize worth $ 500. Our raffle tickets are being widely spread out right now, so I can't really promise any particular numbers. If you have a favorite number, mention it, if possible, I may get it. - If not. it's pot luck, and I will try to work my mojo to get you a winner.
