This is concerning at the baseline level. This becomes even more concerning when you overlay that both the kidney donor and the transplant patient are unvaccinated and aligned without issue. The hospital is refusing the transplant surgery based solely on their vaccinated status.

DENVER (KDVR) — A patient on the kidney transplant list was moved to inactive status by UCHealth for not receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. Her living donor is also unvaccinated and UCHealth said both need to be vaccinated for the transplant process to continue.

Most transplant patients I see are financially depleted and 100% govt entitlement dependent. So if Fed funds are withheld from facilities that don’t require vaccination, do you think that stops with employees? Univ Co not the only Univ Med Ctr following this protocol. I checked on this issue with our transplant team and was told they could not legally answer my questions about service denial. The patients are left on the list and denied progression of service. I have no reservations suggesting that this is nationwide. Transplant services are governed tightly from state and national level. I bet UNOS has this requirement posted in stone.

I'm listed as an organ donor (a heart on my driver's license). I guess they won't want my organs because I'm not vaccinated. I wonder how things will go if I try to get myself out of that program.

That applies only to allocating a scarce donor organ.

When you *must* choose only one recipient, it makes sense to give it to the one it has the best chance of helping.

This is not that case. This is a directed donation, if this woman doesn't get the kidney, nobody does.

So, I'm confused. The DOCTORS are refusing to do the surgery because the PATIENT is not "vaccinated" ? Have I got that right ? Or is it the hospital admin making the decision ?

I seem to recall more than one case where a baker was FORCED to bake a cake against their will, or where a photographer was FORCED to take pictures against their will. There are more cases just like this.

Now the hospital is refusing to provide the PUBLIC SERVICE that it is chartered to provide brcause they "don't want to" ?
