I haven’t heard much about hoe this would effect NY, but seems it would be difficult to register semiautomatic firearms with the NFA since NFA are not an option for New Yorkers. Anyone hear of any pro gun organizations looking at that potential issue or am I missing something?
I would still prefer featureless vs fixed mag. There are plenty of work arounds to reload through ejection port and different ways to pull back pin if you go fixed mag. I would just want my rifle to function as designed and clear malfunctions, if needed, the way I was trained to.
I have two sets of laser grips that were on 1911’s I recently inherited. The previous owner purchased within last 2 years and never carried either.

I’m getting ready to retire from LEO career and NRA Instructor. How do I get one of these “expert witness jobs”? I doubt any of the activist DAs and Judges would like my opinion.
I have seen a couple Coonan’s have problems if the ammo isn’t hot enough. Also the grip is wider that standard 1911. I like my DW Valor in 10mm better. It’s been reliable through the first 1000 rounds.
No problem. No one should even need a permit. The longer I have been in law enforcement, the more I am against gun control of any kind for law abiding citizens. I can’t wait to get out of this state.
If you have any type of astigmatism, you may do better with the circle dot. I have a hard time seeing a red dot. I don’t see a circle. The EOTech type reticle are easier for me to get fast and accurate shots at distance. For CQB it doesn’t really matter either way.
I will check. If it is I will transfer everything to badge until retirement in 6 months. I’m planning on leaving NY State anyway within a year. Even if I stay , quite a few coworkers retired without getting a permit and just carry on retired creds/LEOSA. I think the benefit of the permit is that...
I thought I did it online. I need to get it squared away though. I just inherited a few guns, but probably won’t carry until I add it permit. I’m planning on retiring in 6 month, I still have stuff on my badge that I will probably transfer to permit.

I live near Buffalo. If interested I can drop off or meet in local area. If outside I can drop in the mail.
He wouldn’t just put the upper on your lower and charge you for it? It would take less than a minute. There is plenty of FFL that will. Just tell them you need a receipt to show it’s a pistol. Probably DD’s would do it, but call a few FFL’s.
I just spoke to someone from TPD. He said he is going to be ok, but it was bad at the scene. Hopefully no turn for the worse and he makes a full recovery.
I used to go to Niagara Gun Range every weekend and usually run 300 rounds through my Glock 17 and then another 100-200 through something else. They closed before all this COVID stuff, but definitely need to find a place soon.
I used the Overwatch Precision trigger on a couple glocks. My only gen 5 Glock is a 19 and didn’t do anything to the trigger. I’m not sure what spring mods work with gen 5, but the minus connector shouldn’t be an issue. I don’t like to mess with firing pin/striker springs on a carry gun. I will...
If I wasn’t so far away, I would be interested. I usually go to the range every Saturday, but with local ranges closed I haven’t done firearms training in a month.
I tried almost all of the new tech belts from Kore, Ares Gear and am back to a thick leather/synthetic mix. I have had a Lenwood Leather belt for 7 years and still looks new. It’s a thick leather with a second layer of conveyor belt material. Cobra, Arres and other buckles are well designed, but...
I did not catch that he used an A2 stock. I have seen a few 50 Beowulf ship with standard buffers and the heavier buffers solved the problem. My point was just to to look at other possibilities before messing with the gas system when there is no apparent parts defect.
I would like to see what the scope of their search includes. If can see someone who has a teenage son that talks about hunting and some teacher gets nervous and contacts local PD. Then what, locals are going to go to the kids room or search the entire house. Is the judge issuing a search...
I haven’t heard any politicians on either side bring up this little detail. I think most Americans would be against this. At least I would hope so. Since most of these red flag confiscations are a result of words not actually committing crimes, it violates the 1st amendment in addition to the...
I also take advantage of what I can have while active LEO, but already looking to leave NY after retirement or maybe before. Hopefully the Supreme Court will take these cases and eventually make a ruling against states violating the BOR. I believe any law abiding citizen should be able to have...
I believe that is normal for the spring to move up during firing. When you assemble it the spring sits in the bottom notch, but when the slide moves the spring sits in the notch above it. There isn't as much spring tension in my 43 as there is in my other glocks, but the recoil spring does the...
Criminal law takes precedence. Once ICE takes custody they are working on removing them. The idea is to let them face the punishment for their crimes and then remove them after. Especially because they might be back in the country a few days after they get deported. Also depending on how they...
The request is an immigration detainer stating the ICE has an interest in the alien whether for entering illegally, prior deport or part of an investigation. ICE requests that after they are done with whatever local charge they were arrested on , to be notified before being released. All these...
This has nothing to do with cops in general. He is an idiot who was in clearly in the wrong. It gets stressful dealing with all the BS that goes with being a cop, but we have to maintain our professionalism always even when dealing with pedophiles, rapists and murderers. Rarely do we see a...
