Lots of truth to this. I've had the opportunity to take some classes from some of the top sponsored pro shooters currently out there. Regular exercise routine coupled with a controlled diet they have told me aids in their performance at the big matches.

For what it's worth I rarely see any of them at a steel challenge match. The new Ruger Mark IV seems to have taken over in the rimfire pistol arena.

Reality is carrying a gun is not meant to be comfortable, but rather comforting. Out of the dozen or so ways to carry, I've found that pocket carry to be the least intrusive.

I think you'll prefer that new Mark IV. Field stripping is a breeze now and there's a ton of aftermarket support for the product.

Spicoli - to the best of my knowledge, you should be able to join Tonawanda Sportsmen Club during the summer. Be advised however that it will be a bit more costly than Niagara Co Sportsmans. Good luck.

Tonawanda Sportsmens Club on Killian Rd in Pendleton is nice. They offer a restaurant clubhouse, trap and skeet, rifle, indoor and outdoor pistol. Also this year added Steel Challenge events. The regional action pistol club also operates out of there. Another nice venue is Niagara County...

What you're describing is not that unusual for the 617. I have one with thousands of rounds thru it and have used it for steel challenge. Regular cleaning will be your friend. I simply use my favorite solvent coupled with a nylon toothbrush.

Installed one on my 617 steel challenge revolver last month. So far no issues, and the install took a matter of a minute or two.

The aftermarket support for the 10/22 is incredible. Still one of the most popular out there for rimfire steel challenge matches.
