I did buy at my lgs and he ain't cheap. If I had gone for more than one box I might have gotten a deal. Anyway, for me I think the 22 mag is a dead end. Like nortatoga basically says, what need has to be satisfied?
Most of my reading seems to show that the accuracy of 22 mag over lr in the Ruger is really not worth noting. But I do like the extra pop! Those 17s are pretty trick, I can see the attraction.
I uncased my Single Six the other day for a wipe down, it's been sleeping for awhile. Last time I had it out for some shooting, I put it away with the 22 mag cylinder installed. I was thinking come next time out I would get a box of 22 mags and give then a try. All I've ever used was 22 lr...
And back to the thread... home built would be an interesting pursuit. Can't remember when or what, but I saw something once about home builds that used junk bowling balls as projectiles.
There's a guy next town south who is a civil war re-enactor...he and his buds have a period cannon, I would...
If the case head on that round completely separated from body of the cartridge, and you photo seems to show that, the ammo is suspect. This stuff is mass produced, and who knows what qa/qc might miss. Definitely hello Winchester Western...
Wow, glad nobody got a face full of trouble. I guess the ammo is suspect...maybe let Winchester know? Did the rifle get damaged?
As an aside, and do not know about the ammo here, but HV, (high Velocity?), I stick to standard velocity 22.
And, I had my first pair of shooting glasses made this...
Man, talk about a box of rocks. It is simply remarkable, almost beyond description, the collection of f-wads the dim/socialists have put before the public. These people don't even know how to be embarrassed.
The property has got to be fairly close to me. I took a quick look at listings but didn't see it...I guessing maybe between the village and Albany County someplace....nice over that way, and Middleburg is nice too actually.
Too bad. I shopped at the store in Herkimer a couple of times. I was never impressed, but always good to have choices. I do remember the staff was very pleasant.
Gotcha. I've a 77/44 that I'm going to use out back for deer, and settled on jsp ammo. The 240 winchester white box stuff is going, here anyway, for about 34s buck a box; seems to get good reviews. But I have empty brass and powder so for the price of the bullets I'll just roll my own. Good...
Ah, another early bird.
Yeah, me too, a grain is a grain. But now that I'm actually reading up on stuff...directions? Who needs directions?
I sent an email to Alliant, and they got right back but only discussed chamber pressure; that whether shooting a rifle or revolver the load data is...
Not that I am computer whiz, but does your motherboard have built it graphics? My POS computer has a crappy graphics card installed, for what appears to be no purpose because the MB has built-in graphics that are equal in capability. Pull the card out and flip a dip switch on the board. None...
Question for the experienced....
I'm not a complete dummy, working on it though...but seriously, I will soon be loading 44 mag using Alliant 2400 and 240 JSP bullets. Awhile back I took a look at Alliant's load data for 2400 and 240 gr bullets and saw that they used Speer GDHP, which I guess...
Cobleskill has a WalMart, and I have never purchased ammunition nor firearms from there, so screw them.
The grocery angle is interesting. After the floods, Schoharie County had only two supermarkets; Price Chopper and Walmart. Can you imagine? IN THE WHOLE COUNTY. Now though, there's a new...
This bit of business has been around for awhile, and had escaped my attention since retirement. Perhaps some of you are familiar with the issue and now consider this old news. But this guy's blog (?) captures, in essence, the sad situation with state service on many levels.
Sorry if this has...
I've done business with these guys twice...not happy, I'm done. Yes, they were personable, timely, no complaint price wise, but there were problems. Your mileage may vary. Just make sure they understand your expectations.
There's Sycamore Hills Design in Victor, NY you might try.
Nice round trip down the and back, and came home with exactly what I wanted. Went through Hurley on the way, tons of history there, so now we got to plan another trip!
A hundred years ago...me and the buds, under the pretense of bunny hunting, would wander through the corn fields along the Mohawk. These places always flooded due to ice jams, and fish, mostly carp, would be stranded, litterally frozen, in the furrows. We would bust them out and take turns...
Twenty bucks doesn't motivate me, and ef all that ffl crap anyway. I'm going to stick with my plan and spif them up. The stocks are shot, I'll use them to make some sort of stand, and cut down the stock bolt for attaching the receiver. Or, use the receiver as a cigar ashtray! $100!
Ah, snakes. They were getting into the downstairs last summer. They're ok outside, but not in the house. We've got four flavors; Garter, Little brown, Milk (largest), and the smallest, Northern red belly. There's a concrete pad outside the downstairs slider, and there must be large voids...
Quick reply from Numrich. Twenty dollars for all, they pay the shipping. Yup, I've checked GB a couple of times. Folks are asking for around $50 for receivers with stock. I think if you add up Numrich retail prices for all the component parts you're north of $100 for each receiver.
