Looks like Trump has brokered a cease fire between Israel and Iran. He outmaneuvered all the naysayers, including in this thread.

I think Trump's "diplomacy" worked as intended. Iran launched ineffective missiles against a US base that had been completely evacuated, and Iran was kind enough to ring up Qatar and give them advance warning of the strike so nobody would get hurt. If this is the off-ramp, then Trump is a genius.

This now forgotten 1978 book was a large influence on the views of Ronald Reagan regarding the USSR. In the book, Iran is a major ally of the US against the USSR in WW3. The 1979 revolution obviously changed all of that.
