thinking of a new medium priced scope for my Remington vtr in 308 moving the leupold from it to my 1963 700 bdl 06 it has an old 1X4 weaver. kinda like either the Vortex Viper or the Bushnell thoughts?

dose anyone know if I can move the swivel studs on a synthetic Remington 700 stock from the bottom to the side. I hunt in really steep terrain and i'd like to carry it like an M4 instead of upside down on my shoulder that way i have both hands to grab onto tree's as i'm climbing

Ok on the bottom of the bolt toward the back by the handle there is a number inscribed with dots that I missed really hard to read once I put some bright led light on it it popped and there it was pretty simple once you figure it
while cleaning 2 rifles 1 a remington 700 243 varmint and the other a 308 vtr I lost tract of wich bolt went with wich rifle since there essetialy the same and fit both what to do? there are numbers on the bottom of each bolt but they in no way correspond to the serial numbers on the rifles...
thanks for the heads up on the Marlin hadn't thought of them Nortatoga you just confirmed my thoughts on Ruger you had to dump a bunch of money in it to make it shoot. I gave my M77/22 to 3 of my grand sons they all gave it back saying Grand pa it looks good but it will not shoot hmm don't know...
