As someone who works in the utility and power generation industry, that's not entirely true.

Just got myself a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the V8 and offroad adventure pack II, which translates to skid plates and air suspension that can give me an additional 3-4 inches of clearance if required. So far, loving it. V8 gets 20-22mpg on the highway too.
