Backup rig still got the job done, but I needed more ammo.
Only one recovered, but three more were hit with good blood trails into the swamp.
The bugs need to eat too.

While you guys were crying in the rain Saturday, I dropped one at the furthest yardage I can remember shooting one, 279 yards.
Unfortunately my scope shut off after the shot and I couldn't get a shot at the male that was with this female.
In my haste to get setup, I forgot to fully tighten the...
Hunted a new property last night that was having a chicken disappearing problem.
Had a few that were a ways off that didn't come in, but this one came in on a string and was dropped on the run by my buddy.
33lb female.
Saw 5 fox, so when fox season opens, their on the hit list.
Here's the video of it getting downwind of me in the woods.
I was waiting for it to walk past the big tree, but it never did.
It's amazing how they can just disappear.
#1 + #2 for the Halo/Savage Impulse Predator .243
#1 was a female that I caught going into the field that the neighbors keep their horses.
#2 was a male that was circling around a cluster of deer that were bedded down in a hay field around 300 yards from my set.
I actually called it in an hour...
Here's my fall 2022 Primary and backup rifles.
Got the Adder in yesterday and mounted on the 20 practical.
Stopping by the range on my way upstate to sight it in.
Welcome to NY state.gov, where even the sentences are trying to run away.
To clarify, You cannot hunt with a centerfire rifle in a caliber larger than .21 caliber in counties that only allow deer hunting with Bow and Shotgun.
This is from the NYSDEC;
You may hunt furbearers with a rifle chambered in any cartridge, except that during any open season for deer (including archery, muzzleloading, and regular seasons) you may not possess a rifle larger than .22 caliber rimfire afield, during the day or night, to hunt...
My Primary rig is ready to go and I should have my backup rig set to go next week after the new backup thermal arrives.
I've also been getting calls from the neighbors upstate that the coyote are getting brazen with their livestock and sounding off right outside their houses after dark.
Their...
You need two, so there's enough parts to make one useable rifle !:wtf:
Can't wait to hunt with you guys, check those pimped out 204 rifles up close + personal.
With that new fangled AR, there might not be any coyote left to hunt in December !
Use whatever your rifle shoots the best, but I don't go out with anything under 35 grains in my 20 practical.
While speed does kill, a light jacketed projo made for vermin will blow up on impact, especially when hitting bone.
The heavier projos are made with thicker jackets for better...
I've been told there are wolves in NY state also and have had locals say they've seen them, but none of my friends or acquaintances that hunt, trap and have cameras out night and day have never seen or heard one.
Maybe in the vast reaches of the Adirondacks, but I would think that if they were...
First pistol on my permit was my fathers backup snubby Mdl 37 airweight.
You forgot no shell casings left behind , single or double action trigger pull and a speed strip for reloading is easy to conceal too.
After looking at the specs of both cartridges and the 204 chamber specs, I can see how a .223 would fit into a 204 chamber.
The .223 bullets Ogive sit's just below the 204's neck, giving it just enough room to fit into a 204's chamber without getting jammed.
You got lucky and I have two words...
Nice camo job.
Is this the daytime hunting rifle ?
Reason I'm asking, is that at night, unless it's a full moon, hunting with dark colored equipment is preferred and I've never worn any type of camo specific to the current environmental conditions at night.
Looks nice.
I went all titanium with my linear compensator, as I don't trust aluminum in the muzzle area.
4"s long x 1-1/2" dia, which really does a good job.
I think the KAK is actually too short in length.
My brake is titanium with outer threads and the compensator threads onto it, so I still...
If we set a date to have a night hunters group hunt when October rolls around and the loan to fill my gas tank gets approved, I'll be there.
We'd have most of the major thermal scope manufacturers being represented, but you'd better start saving money now, as once you look through a 640 res...
Unless she made some type of religious or friends and family exemptions I didn't read about, Every Concealed carry holder in the city and state has to comply with her demands, meaning the wealthy are being lumped in with the common folk and that's going to upset a lot of the upper crust and...
Thanks for the Addition to the topic.
It's good to get the perspective of someone that went through the process of finding what works for them in recent years.
Night hunting with thermal is an addiction and I got addicted a long time ago, when 160 res thermal was king and cost more than what...
I get asked a lot of questions about thermal optic recommendations, so I thought I would do a short tutorial about what you get for your dollar with the three current scopes I have at the moment.
My current Primary scope is an Nvision Halo X50 and my backup scope is an AGM Rattler TS25-384...
So she's adding more laws to the books that their not going to enforce, or they'll only enforce these laws and not the current laws that are broken daily by real criminals ?
I carry all this in my Eberlestock Gunslinger while predator hunting.

The only time I've had any real success with top water plugs, was bass fishing on lakes at night in the hot days of summer, casting from a boat parallel to the shore.
Caught some real nice lunkers that way.
Tisto is steering you in the right direction and you should take up his generous offer to look through his optics before you purchase anything.
The only negative is that you'll be looking through a top of the line 640 res scope that's way out of your price range.
In your price range, My...
Still can't see where a shirt would be rubbed enough to make a hole in it with the screws, but that issue would be taken care of with the deep pocket titanium LynchNW clips.
Screws are behind the lynch clip, not over the clip.
Check them out here LynchNW
Just wondering how your wearing a hole in your T shirts ?
I been carrying two spydercos everyday for the last couple of decades and have never had any issues with holes in my shirts, with any style pocket clip.
My current EDC's are a Canis in the left front and a titanium PM in my right front...
After shooting at some dogs and not finding them afterwards because I needed to get home to view the internal recorded video to see if I made a good shot or not, I finally got the correct cable to be able to view my recorded video with my phone in the field.
There were times that I swore they...
Your going to need to open a Rumble or U tube account to upload the recorded video link for posting.
Identical twins sounds expensive and hopefully you'll get it accomplished before the fall season starts.
I always steer new reloader's to pistol loading videos first, as they give a basic and not so anal and drawn out loading procedure to follow.
Case prep, size case/deprime, seat primer, add powder, seat bullet/crimp, shoot.
Tailoring a load to a rifle is fun, but not everyone has the time or...
I'm on call this weekend, the weather sucks and my thermion XG50 is at pulsar getting a checkup, so yesterday I decided to dive right into seeing if I could remove the barrel extension, so I can rebarrel my rifle with a lightweight CF barrel.
After removing the .243 barrel with the extension, I...
Get the scope mounted, load dialed in and data recorded, so you can get a custom turret label made.
After that, focus on getting to any range to get some trigger time in and maybe visiting a PRS or F class match to see what it's about in person.
If you don't have a long distance range available...
If it's aggressive, drop it, but consider that it's the time of the year that furry animals are shedding their winter coats, so they all look pretty mangy now.
Got my CPX2 slide with CT 5Moa dot last week and finally got the time to get into it last night.
Right off the bat it's not a drop in slide, as after I swapped the barrel and recoil spring, I had issues with the new slide binding before going into battery.
With a little tap it did go into...
While I prefer iron sights, my eyes aren't getting any better, so I purchased this slide/red dot combo for my CPX2 as a cheap way to compare them.
SCY RD Slide
It has a 3.5 moa dot and others have recommended that I might like a 6 moa dot better, so I'll see how it looks and go from there.
