I've killed deer and bear with my 50 cal muzzle loader using cast bullets made from wheel weights and pure cast lead for a long time, and so did the first settlers of this great nation.
If your reloading, Missouri bullets sells a 10mm 200 grn coated bullet(18 Brinell), so you can push them a...
From what I'm reading about glock's and hard cast, is that the glock rifling doesn't do well with hard cast and it leads the barrel quickly.
It's meant to shoot jacketed bullets.
Razor Dobs has been hunting with the 10mm for awhile and has killed a lot of animals.
He uses a dan wesson with 200...
.
10Ga is a pea shooter.
I've owned many 700 nitro mag's and other big bore double rifle's in my time, Even a black powder 8 bore rifle, when you could afford to buy one.
I've shot some 20mm rifles too and would never fire one in an unsupported shoulder fired version.
One day I fired my 50 bmg...
To have a shoulder fired 20mm semi auto, I'll shoot it right handed !
It does Eject to the left, so I could probably make something work, and they also make a right hand Bolt version with a neutral stock.
.50 cal is the largest center fire cartridge allowed in NY and most states without a DD license, unless the cartridge is deemed a hunting cartridge, and if 20mm was, this would be in my stable.
I figured a year would be a good time period for the state to collect enough data to make a judgement on it's effects.
Also, Edible medical marijuana isn't legal in NY, Just oils and pills that don't help my wife.
Of course we could try and make edibles with whats offered, but it would be easier...
I'd say make it legal for medical use first, then total legalization a year later, if there's enough proof of it not being detrimental to society.
While I can't do any drugs because of work regulations, my wife(who's been battling leukemia and winning thank God) could use it to help her relax...
Your looking for a lightweight pistol that your going to be carrying more than shooting, but want it powerful enough to kill a large injured animal that may attack you or your dogs when confronted.
That's the reasons I've been carrying a Taurus Titanium 444ULT 44 mag revolver for the last couple...
I had the first version for a couple of years. 308 and 243.
It was right hand only back then, but I shot it left hand no problem. Sold it last year.
The newest version is RH/LH, but since I've been out of the assassin trade for awhile, I don't need another one.
The stock isn't flimsy at all.
It...
I shoot my 617 in steel challenge and use Fed Auto match too.
Same build up, just gotta keep an eye on the area and clean it every once and awhile.
I also use Plated 36grn HP CCI mini mags too, but not enough for any build up to occur.
The Auto match is one of the cheapest bullets that are 100%...
I heard that the April match went well and all had a good time, even in the cold weather.
One day I hope to dust off one of my puny rifles and make it to a match.

Next thing you need to do is buy a chronograph and see what velocity your getting.
Some bullets perform better at higher or lower speeds, so knowing how fast your going will get you to that place quicker.
Also, your going to need to start sorting your brass now too. I/E- Once fired, twice...
I've owned a 444UL titanium model for awhile. Liked it so much that I bought another, and a double pistol shoulder holster as well last week.
A hand full to shoot, but it's been reliable after a couple hundred rounds fired and a pleasure to carry around because of it's weight, which is why I...
I'm sorry for misinterpreting your post, late night.
I like CZ's because they have products that can be upgraded to the consumers choice, or full blown customs that won't break the bank.
Most models are left hand convertible too.
I'm going to buy some of their stock before they open a plant here.
There are tons of videos of expert dumbass's shooting themselves, others and having AD's with SA pistols.
Gun makers finally decided to try and keep their customers alive with the DA/SA option, as did LE in the US and overseas decades ago too.
Believe it or not, some people think it's pretty...
Congrats on the CZ purchase. I bet it won't be your last !
I personally like having a decocker, especially for a CC.
One reason I have a P-07 & 09 in my rotation now. Their Omega trigger system is awesome and made even better with some Cajun love.
I've seen too many accidental discharges with...
I had my custom CZ P-09 for sale on here for awhile.
I knew it would sell if someone shot it.
I showed it to a shooter at a steel plate match last weekend, let him shoot it and he bought it on the spot.
They are the most accurate and underrated production pistols out of the box, and are even...
Target sports is the usual place to buy, as they have no issues shipping to NY.
Friends have found some at gun shows too, but you need to check the dates on them, as some might have corrosive primers.
That's the thing with 50Bmg's, where to shoot it ?
Most ranges don't allow the 50Bmg, so you'll need to find a range that does, a piece of land to shoot it, or Join the FCSA and shoot at a 1,000 yard match in PA.
Reloading would be the cheapest bet, if your shooting in competition or have a...
I asked around about the McCutchen upper and found one shooter that sent their old Zel in for the bolt safety mods and a fore stock upgrade.
Said it's still a good shooter and the bolt mod machine work was top notch.
Haven't heard from anyone that's bought an actual McCutchen upper yet though...
Dammit, I was getting ready to spend some of my tax return $$ on a new cannon after reading the thread title !!
45.70 ? , my 10 yr old niece shoots a 45.70 !!!
I've never heard of the McCutchen Upper till your post. It looks like a solid upper, but I can't comment on it's quality. I'll ask around.
My 50bmg's all have 20 moa bases.
Unless you have a scope that has minimul internal MOA adjustment, a 20 moa is all that's needed to get out to 1,000 yards...
ALS and Ferrett match AR uppers will shoot MOA.
I've shot MOA and better with a ferret super match upper that I mated to a dedicated DPMS single shot lower.
As far as 50bmg accuracy, I and my 50 cal friends have done very well with the 50 cal bolt rifles we've built.
One friends light class...
If your caught with a pistol that has a serial number that's not on your permit, your fucked anyway.
Most people build them for SHTF circumstances, so if they need to be used, getting caught isn't a concern.
The coated are usually cheaper, don't smoke, different styles/contours and with the many different available colors, you can use a different color to differentiate rounds that have different power factors or OAL.
Many steel shooters compete with pistol chambered carbines and load them hot for...
I hate loading my pistol rounds into the 50 rd boxes, so now I just dump them into a box.
I only sort my ELR rifle bullets, but their big and easy to handle.
If you need to neck turn brass, you need to re chamber your rifle to accept brass that doesn't need to be neck sized !
You should be...
I have them on my 929 + 617 DAO comp revolvers.
The 617 has the short version, and the 929 has the long version.
As was mentioned, it's made for comp, not concealed carry.
The short version would be feasible if your carrying in an OWB holster.
There are a lot of how to videos out to take almost any weapon apart and put it back together in working condition.
Single action pistol's are about as easy as it gets.
You got lucky. Late nights and a hurried reloading session make for bad news.
I usually load 500 rounds a night and set up for the next nights session after boxing the ammo.
IE, fill the primer tubes, powder hopper, brass and bullets.
I sold my 650 and SDB's and bought another 550 after having...
You should measure the hand's orientation and the amount it sticks out of the frame with the new parts in it, and compare it to the measurements of the hand with the original parts in it.
I live downstate and have deer in my fenced in yard eating the buds off the downed limbs of a maple.
I can get pretty close to them and they'll leave only when I let the dogs out.
Even then, they'll just hop the fence and bed down in the neighbors yard.
When I visit family in Delhi, we would...
To me, Long range is 1,000 yards++.
.308-300 mag are medium range calibers. They can hit paper at longer ranges, but for hunting it's pushing it.
It's too bad that the ranges we have available in NY to actually shoot long range, don't allow you to shoot the calibers that are actually designed...
If you lived closer to me, I'd show you how it's done.
I do have a portable Lee reloading setup in my van that I bring to the range when doing load testing for the rifles and handguns I build, but you need to learn on your equipment.
If you have all the gear, why not join in on the fun and participate ?
If needed, I'm sure there will be other shooters there to lend you a hand.
It's easy. Follow the rules, listen to the RO and remember Safety, Safety, Safety.
If it's not to far away and you have the necessary gear to shoot the match, sign up.
Let them know it's your fist match and to place you in the middle, so you can watch other shooters and see how it's done before you shoot.
