As I posted earlier (#8) I re-certified early in July my on-line confirmation at that time said next re-cert was July of 2027, checked it recently that date was changed to July 2025 *FxxKers!!*

Training not required for re-cert.

@meketrefe the recerts go right to NYSP not the Counties. Done online I got immediate confirmation, not sure how mail-in works which may be your only option from out of State.

If you had a NYS pistol license when the Safe-Act passed you need to recertify 5 years after that date, and then again 5 years later (2023) now changed to 3 years.

In all reality you should have recertified the first time Jan of 2018 (which was good for 5 years, now only good for 3 years) and again this past Jan before your 5 year anniversary date. The link below is for re-cert with NYSP you could give it a try if your license is still valid...

This is what my owner manual said about my M&P 22, Kind of tells you right from the start it may be fussy about ammo! It will shoot CCI Mini Mags so I have a good stash of them for this pistol and I only use it for steel challenge.

My M&P 22 is fussy about ammo, but runs CCI Mini Mags without a hiccup! The old Ruger mkll eats anything. So yes try some different ammo CCI is your best bet.
