Isn't family, friends, or a trusted neighbor babysitting someone's kids a thing anymore?
That's how it was done when I was growing up.
It didn't cost the taxpayers anything. The parents would pay the babysitter out of their pocket, and it wasn't that much money for a babysitter. Oftentimes, if it was a family member, it didn't cost the parents anything.
Besides that, if I had kids, I would rather have family, friends, or a trusted neighbor babysitting
my kids rather than a stranger at a day care/childcare place.
Did I mention the old way of doing things as far as childcare/babysitting didn't cost the taxpayers anything? I don't remember daycare/childcare even being a thing in the 1970s.
When I was a kid, a trusted person (babysitter) would make a few bucks babysitting someone's kids, and the kids' parents would directly pay the babysitter for it. It was a good way for a responsible, usually high school-aged girl to earn some money.
Times have changed, and as usual, not for the better. IMO
Besides that, why are MY taxes paying for OTHER PEOPLE'S kids to be supervised?
Having to pay school taxes to educate OTHER PEOPLE'S kids pisses me off too.
One of the reasons the wife and I didn't ever have kids is that they cost money.
So it really pisses me off that I have to pay for OTHER PEOPLE'S kids.
