That's a general definition.

But in the US there is exactly one crime defined in the constitution, and treason has a specific definition there.

Now, maybe you could make the case that we are in a defacto state of war against the deep staters who have more allegiance to China than the US, but until congress declares such a war, the constitution is very specific about that as well.

Article III, Section 3, Clause 1:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
