And as a few others have also said, I too would trade bumpfire stocks for the passage of the SHARE Act and national reciprocity.......... except that the vauge language of the proposed bill seems as though it may infringe on aftermarket trigger upgrades and that is not acceptable.

But if we actualy had savy representation tacking on passage of some of the pro gun bills floating around that would shore up the slippery slope. But this is academic all we have in Washington are spineless dulards and traitorous RINOs.

Ultimately they’ll have to ban information on how springs and elastic polymers work too. Workshops will be licensed and our homes will be open for sudden inspections “for the publics’ safety”.

Cycle of civilization... in twenty years China will have more freedom than America, in two hundred years the cycle will repeat itself.

Here's my two cents on this situation. I would never consider buying a novelty such as the bump fire stock or anything of that nature. However I will fight to prevent legislation from Banning any firearm accessory on the principle it's a slippery slope. We all know that the left will just keep taking pieces of our cake until we have no cake left, at no point are they ever satisfied with the piece of cake that they have so we need to stop giving up even if it's an old stale crusty piece of cake that we don't want.

Yea, we should totally set up murder free zones in Chicago and Baltimore. I can't believe no one thought of that yet. It will fix everything. Just put some no murder zone signs up.

Nothing more than a gimmicky trinket, impossible to shoot a rifle accurately while it is bouncing back and forth on a spring. No real marksman or hunter wants one, that being said it is a bill of rights not a bill of needs and if a law abiding person wants to purchase one of these they should be able to imo. Freedom is not negotiable or without inherent risk. The whole 2a debate is BS , the tragic events have nothing to do with inanimate objects but something far more nefarious.

Nothing is to be gained by the banning of these devices, yet much will be lost. It's as if that sick bastard gets to hit America one last time, from the grave - through the greedy self-important politicians who have to have a personal "victory". Maybe that's why he bought and put so many weapons on display. He didn't need or use them, but he seeded the ground for a final Fuck You.

I was surprised and saddened by the shooting in Vegas. I spent a lot of time staring at photos, watching videos, and trying to make heads or tails out of a sloppy news feed that could be best described as a feeding frenzy. I still don't understand why this happened. Nobody does! But, now it's suggested we blindly enact new Federal law to remove more freedoms from Americans, just to say we "did something". Isn't there anything else arbitrary we could do other than turn hundreds of thousands of innocent Americans into Felons?

Please don't let the suspicion scare you off. We are a naturally suspicious group of people (suspicious, not paranoid) and you have joined us at a difficult time. This suspicion has become ingrained in all of us, the result of decades of assault by politicians, news media, and elites who think they know better.

We are your doctors and nurses, your attorneys and judges, your police officers, firefighters, and EMS providers. We are your cashiers and toll-takers, your mechanics, engineers, and technicians. By and large, we are a safe, sane, and responsible group. But just like every other demographic, there are groups of gun owners who are either irresponsible or downright criminal. And then we all cringe and brace for the onslaught that history has proven is sure to come.

What you are seeing in this thread is just that. Politicians who don't know a charging handle from a carry handle purport to know what's best for all of us and move to ban the very tools that we rely upon to defend ourselves and our loved ones, and to put food on our tables.

Here's my personal take on the "bump fire" stock: It's useless. Its a novelty item. The only thing it's good for is to quickly and efficiently turn a great deal of money into a great deal of smoke and noise. It makes it difficult, if not impossible, to accurately deliver rounds on target. Yes, it allowed this dirtbag to deliver a large number of bullets in a short amount of time. But with the amount of time he had (72 minutes, I believe?) he would have been able to exact a MUCH higher death toll if he had utilized a much slower rate of fire and aimed. A relative novice delivering aimed fire at a rate of one round every 4-5 seconds should have been able to kill over 700 people.

And while I think that the particular accessory in question is stupid and useless, I am vehemently opposed to banning it. If they ban this accessory, what will they want to ban next? And then what? And then? Pretty soon, we'll be back to the days of the flintlock.

When a politician declares that it's "common-sense" to ban a firearm or a feature thereof, and asks gun owners to bend:
We bent when it was "common sense" to require registration of machine guns, suppressors, and short-barreled shotguns and rifles in 1934.
We bent when it was "common sense" to require licensing of manufacturers, importers, and dealers of firearms in 1938.
We bent when it was "common sense" to prohibit the interstate sale of firearms and to raise the age of handgun ownership in 1968.
We bent when it was "common sense" to prohibit the sale of new automatic firearms to civilians in 1986.
We bent when it was "common sense" to prohibit the manufacture or sale of firearms with less than 4 ounces of metal in 1988
We bent when it was "common sense" to prohibit parents from carrying a firearm while walking their kids to school in 1990.
We bent when it was "common sense" to require background checks on firearm purchases from dealers in 1990.
We bent when it was "common sense" to ban semiautomatic firearms with certain features in 1994.

Where do we draw the line? Quite frankly, we're tired of being the ones who are beaten by politicians every time something bad happens.

Let's start using some real common sense. Let's start prosecuting people who lie on background check forms when buying firearms for people they know aren't eligible to own them. Since 60% of firearms deaths in the united states are suicides, let's put some REAL ass behind improving the mental health systems in this country. Let's work on making sure that all of the states are feeding proper information into the background check system. Let's stop coddling criminals who have shown a propensity for violence.

I don't know of a single firearms owner who doesn't care about curing the ills of our society and leaving this world a better place for our children. Let's start going after the root causes of the problems, not the low-hanging fruit.

Since the 1934 NFA giving into the fascist gun-grabbers has given us nothing, our streets are not safer, our gangs are worse, school shootings are more common, as are spree killers, gun-free zones are murder-playgrounds, and we have lost freedom after freedom.

In the good old days (but not really that long ago) you could walk into a hardware store and buy a 1927A1 Tommy Gun, now you cannot, but our country is a hell of lot less safe now than it was then.

Seems gun control has NOTHING to do with the problem.

Has anyone in the media noted that if this guy used standard semi-auto firearms, fired rapidly but "on target," he'd have probably done more damage than with the bump-fire stock that probably caused him to spray a ton of ammo well over the crowd as the rifles oscillated in his hands?

To me, bump-fire stocks seem to be a mildly entertaining outdoor range toy and nothing more.
