I won't mine picking up a 39A myself, my two and only lever guns at this time a Ruger 96/22 and a Marlin 57M 22 magnum.

I like the old Marlin Model 30. But, there are already 2 Marlins in the list. I understand the classic appeal of the Model 60. It’s a sentimental favorite and I won’t piss in that. I do think the 10/22 is an objectivity better gun for squirreling. I think a tube mag is great for plinking. But, reloading or clearing a jam is a bitch when you’re wearing gloves.

I have an old Mossberg 349BD Target-Sporter. It’s very accurate. However, I can’t use the peep sights early bin the morning.

I agree, I own several incl. the chuckster .22 mag. and they are definitely shooters, All of them.

You will have to if you’re serious about picking one up. If you look on go broker they are selling for some stupid money, as are the Winchester model 9422’s

My dad has a pristine Winchester 1890 pump action (not the Model 61 side eject). Absolutely the slickest little pump ever, flawlessly eats shorts, longs and long rifle even mixed in the tube mag. I’d love one of my own, because he isn’t letting his go anytime soon.

I used to have a beautiful 1940’s Winchester Model 62A .22 pump that I sold for $250 over 20 yrs. ago. I still kick myself over that one.

I have a Savage 23A Sporter, .22 caliber, 24 inch barrel, and it is accurate, especially with sub sonic ammo. Good time thinning the squirrel population with a rife that is 30 years older than I am!

I got a vintage Mossberg 340BD target Sporter. It’s pretty accurate for a gun that is older than I am. But, I can’t use it for squirrels because the rear peep is too dark. I used to have a Marlin Model 80. But, I gave it to my brother when he bought an old farm house in Vermont and needed to thin out the woodchucks. I also passed on an old Savage 220 single shot 410 that my dad got from my grandfather as a 13th birthday gift in 1940. I restored the stock and re-blued the barrel. Old Single shot savages are not collectable.

I’ve sort of gravitated toward Ruger when it comes to working rifles. But, everyone loves a classic 22.
