When I was a kid Ca CPS tried to get into my house once with an MP escort. My sister and I were the only ones home at the time. I told them to go away that my father was not home.

The guy in the suit kep saying son we need to get into the house. I called my dad and he said don’t let them in I will be home soon. I told the suit that my dad was on the way. He still insisted that they needed to come in. I ran upstairs and grabbed the 12 gauge and the next time he yelled through the door at me that they needed to come in. I told them that I had a shotgun and the first person through the door would be blasted right back out it.

The next thing he said was son we will wait for your father. My dad arrived with a restraining order against cps and that was the end of it. This was in 1978 and I have had no use for anyone connected to CPS since.

Just noticed this thread. I’m sorry to hear you even have to deal with this and that your stepdad is having such a hard time. This is not the kind of stuff a 17 year old should have to deal with. I think you handled yourself quite well you got your point across while maintaining your composure and being polite. I’d say the best thing you could do for yourself is to get out of that situation at home as soon as you can. Go away to college, join the military or get your own place if you can. I saw your other thread about enlisting in the national guard I think you should consider other opportunities in the military other than infantry. Find a career that you can transition into civilian life with. Consider a trade. In any case good luck I wish you and your family the best.

I second this. Join the military and become your own man. You seem like a smart, strong kid. You'd do well there. Were I you, I'd go active and then become a cop after honorably discharged. I wish I can trade places with you. All of my best friends have been in the military. Better than childhood friends. We still meet up every few years.

These guys here would have my back no matter what. The bonds created when you go active, are like nothing else.

Oh yeah, good job @Dayten, you were polite, calm, clear and honest. Its nice that everything was so cordial. I do however share the one lady's sentiment that I hope you do have somone to go to should you need. Whoever that may be. And I hope you step father is doing okay.

Dayten you are dealing with adversity and handling it well, as a result you are growing wise beyond your young age.

You are handling a difficult situation with logic, being polite and respectful but also standing up for yourself and taking ownership of your life. You are coming into your own in this world.

You already seem to have a great head on your shoulders so perhaps Striking out on your own and living your life as you want might be a great option for you.

Active duty will pay you, house you, feed you, give you medical and you will almost immediately make awesome friends from all over the country from all different backgrounds that you have a bond with no matter what.

Even if you do your first contract active and decide it's not for you there is always the option to transfer to the guard or reserved and do the whole civilian thing.

I agree with Will (and anyone else who may have said it): go active. Get away on your own. Regardless of the truth, if CPS is involved in your life, you should strike out on your own to get away from that.

I had my own experience with CPS when my oldest was a toddler. She crawled into an extended recliner at home, and wedged her head. I got her out, and she had a thumbnail sized bruise on her head. Being a new parent, I was concerned, called the doctor, and got the "take her to the ER and get her checked out", which I did. She was absolutely fine, but they treated me like I was some fucking child abuser. I was interviewed by five different people in private separately. I was really unhappy and shocked over how I was treated, but stayed outwardly calm.

What happened the next day, REALLY pissed me off! My wife and I were sitting at home with her when CPS showed up unannounced. We answered all questions as calmly as possible (again), and they went through the entire house inspecting everything. After I politely showed them out, from then on my policy changed: no blood, no broken bones, -no ER. No talking to authorities. Period. That shit really pissed me off.

My position now? No warrant? No entry. Don't answer ANY questions, and don't say ANYTHING either.

About 10 years ago, a cop showed up at my door and wanted to ask me questions about something that I knew nothing about. It was freezing outside, and very windy. I was wearing shorts at the time. I stepped outside, closed the door behind me, and kept him farther away from the house. He told me what his visit was about, and suggested we go inside to talk, since it was cold, and I was in shorts. I told him: I'm fine. I don't know anything about what you're talking about. So, see ya! He looked at me, and then he left, and never returned. I have nothing to hide, but my days of being hospitable, and inviting someone inside are over. CPS changed my tune.

If you say anything to them, you just open the door for them to continue the questioning. And whatever gets said will end up in a report somewhere. I particularly resent authorities talking to underage kids without a parent present.

And one more thing. When you're in a tug of war with someone, whoever they may be,- the authorities, or someone in business, remember this: Don't fall for the "silence". Keep your cool. They will try to make you nervous by using an awkward silence in the hopes that you will speak first to fill that "empty or awkward silence. Put on a poker face, and DON"T SAY OR DO ANYTHING. I REPEAT: Don't fall for that!

As a tradesmen myself I fully support anyone looking to get into a trade. Any are great as you will always have a skill that can't ever be taken from you and you will always be able to find work.

I'm a machinist and have run mills and lathes and am now running a couple surface grinders.
