Dry Firing Practice- Boring!!

I try but get so bored doing 10 minutes.
I watched a video about using a blowback airsoft Glock 19 so it feels the same as my carry gun.
I’d be shoot in my basement.

What’s your thoughts on this?
Anyone do this?
Anyone have a model they can recommend?

I do not think that I have done dry fire drills. I am not sure I understand the point of them.

I will sometimes do drills using the airsoft guns.

I keep looking at the Dryfire mags. They reset the striker in the plastic guns so you don't need to keep racking the slide.

I do not think that I have done dry fire drills. I am not sure I understand the point of them.

It helps work on trigger manipulation and sight acquisition. Helpful to improve in the shooting games.

Get a good quality pellet pistol GT! You can practice in your basement, heck with the right backdrop or trap, you can practice in your living room! Keeps your hand eye coordination in practice, exercises muscle memory, you get to measure the results and the effects translate directly to shooting centerfire.

Yeah airsoft with a friend will get you off the X and moving. Put to bed all the YouTube bullshit of reinvented gun fighting.

Shorts, skins and protective eye wear for a truly eye opening experience and to sort out all the BS tacicool crap. I've challenged many YouTube channels to produce that content but so far no one wants to put their twist on things to a real test.

Don't get me started on the CQB crap. Like bullets don't go cleanly though walls. Yeah stack up outside. The funnel is the least of your worries.

Dry fire, a dime on my front sights and a few other exercises @ home improved my shooting by yards! Don't knock it! Be patient with it. Trigger release, reset, grip all improve with dry firing...

If you are talking about dryfiring to a single target on a wall, racking and pulling the trigger, rinse and repeat dozens of times….yeah that’s boring.

but put up an array of targets, have a planned execution, movement and work on transitions, reloads, draws, everything except for recoil…then it is much better.

look up drills from Ben Stoeger and Mike Seeklander for dryfire.

I have a laser shooting gallery. This target system can be set up to light up the targets in random order to keep you on your toes.

Live fire is the best though sometimes I get bored with that too.

The purpose is creating spatial memory for smoother, more deliberate movements that will appear automatically under duress...Drills for clearing (specific) weapons are most useful, practice drawing, magazine changes, etc. are all most useful...Look at Martial Arts Drills and how they train the body for reflexive actions.
Unless you're doing something stupid or Mall Ninja, then I find nothing negative with dry fire training.

Yeah live fire gets boring also. Shooting by yourself (all the weekly shooting friends moved away) you can go through 100 rounds in 20 minutes and not accomplish anything

When the challenge is gone, so is the thrill.
It gets boring when you literally shoot round after round into the same little circle of paper.

Looks like the 365 version is finally available - DryFireMag for Double Stack GAP Glocks | DryFireMag

I have a DryFireMag for my M&P (full size but also fits in Compact though sticks out) - it does not mimic the factory trigger exactly but it can still be good practice.

Their "Smart" packages with lasers looks like it could be useful, if a little expensive. (still cheaper than a separate SIRT pistol)

Funny I just got an email on Friday that it was available and I bought one. The smart one with the lasers and all that was out of my price range and not what I was looking for so I bought the standard one. Also I did see you can get a spring kit to tune it to match your guns trigger pull. I may pair the dry fire mag with the virtual shot system.

I think this dryfire might be the way to go for me. $100 for a mag and I can use it with my stock G19 edc and my G19 with a red dot(which I struggle finding the dot).

A handgun is most useful at 4'-20', and center of a human is pretty hard to miss.............but Cops do all the time, as do civilians as target ducks/runs.

Target practice??? Hit your IDPA or Cowboy action target..

The only practice worth a shit is to be familiar with your firearm..how to operate it...range time is best and you can miss all you want to, and do not want to.

Many people who own guns have never fired them and are klutzes in time of need.......

This is why I supplement my shooting with good .177 or .22 pellet (not steel BB!) pistols and rifles.

I have a nice 25 yard indoor range in the comfort of my basement. I have it big enough for two shooters. Me and a friend, or two friends that want to shoot our air guns.

I'm actually having a few friends coming over during next week, and they are bringing their airguns to shoot and we hang out with the TV going and relaxing on the couch when taking turns. Nothing ain't more relaxing than that!

During this time of the year, my indoor range will see lots of lead go down range... probably in the neighborhood of 10-20k rounds.

For my .177 caliber guns I usually shoot this stuff... really good, no flashing, not dirty, and has some kind of wax lube on it.


For my CO2 air guns I buy my CO2 bulk from RedRock. Great quality Leland cartridges. I usually get between 60-150 rounds (depend on the gun) per cartridge.

For the PCP pistols/rifles I got a nice HILL EC-3000 compressor with a custom desiccant system.

The practice sessions can't even compete with laser. I still mess with the laser stuff, but nothing is as satisfying as watching holes get punched in paper.

Still pisses me off about Crosman leaving Rt5... but they went way down hill since the pandemic. Used to be able to order bulk ammo and CO2 cartridges by calling them. Sometimes if I was in the neighborhood, I'd arrange for pickup.

But I'm nice and warm in here as my winter league starts today. Haven't shot a pistola since hunting season started in October.
And I won the gold!!!!!!!

At about ten yards. My eyes suck and I have a tendency to pull a touch to the left upon trigger pull if I'm not conscience about it, so I'm not too disappointed with the group for the first time out. Once I get that pull tendency straightened out, the jerky jerkies calmed, and tighten my group a bit I'll stretch it to about 15 yards, the limit here.

I've been doing a lot of pellet pistol shootin lately.

Have this here Crosman Vigilante I got over the scamdemic that now has well over 20k rounds through it. I fixed it up and shoots match accurate. Hole-in-hole accuracy at 10m and did a little bit of mods to get around 100 rounds per CO2.
