An article from my local rag. They've always had an anti-gun slant and this is evidence of that. There's a mention that ammo inventory won't return to "normal" until sometime next year.

I'd say that's a 'best case' scenario.
That's is Trump wins another term, the GOP maintains the Senate and retakes the House, a bunch of international bad actors decide all of a sudden to play nice, and COVID goes away.

With those odds, you're safer playing the lottery.

Another ammo manufacturer just received a contract for 38 million $ worth of frangible 9mm ammo, - Federal AND Hornady have both just received multi-million dollar government contracts for ammo. I'm thinking it may be a while before you see any bulk-packs on sale.

I was just getting into guns during the last big ammo drought when Obama became president and then all I cared about was 12 ga birdshot bc I started with trap and skeet shooting. Now I get what all the fuss was about.

Eh, there’s a lot of tension. While I am usually highly dismissive of insurrection/civil war sensational nonsense, this is easily the closest I’ve ever felt in my life to having such a thing come down the pike. My deficiency is mainly not having anything with common enough ammo to rely on field pickups to replenish my stash.

True. Probably plenty of .410, .45 Colt, .3030 and .38spl out there.

Eh. Dunno about .30-30 or .410, but .45 Colt hasn't been in stock anywhere. I don't own any, but I keep an eye open for friends that do and .357 and .38 Spl are tough to find as well. I'm always looking for .44 mag/special/Russian ammo since its the one caliber I got after this started so I don't have a reserve. So far I've been able to buy 3 twenty rd boxes of Hornady factory hunting ammo at over $1/rd, 1 fifty rd box of .44 Special Magtech cowboy action garbage ammo for just under $1/rd and that was on 3 separate gun store visits. Online, targetsportsusa has one brand of .44 Russian ammo for over 80¢/rd and Buffalobore has their super-deluxe-premium stuff for about $2/rd. So even the rarer stuff is in short supply or priced at a premium. As far as rifles go, this time last year I bought a bunch of .270 Win for about 50¢/rd after a rebate. Now its all $1.50-$2.00/rd and I can't find my favorite one (Federal Non-typical 150 grain) anywhere.

I have a G23, may use that but I’m thinking a G22 would be easier to qualify with.

YMMV, but I didn't notice any difference in shootability between the G35 and G23. I actually shot the G19 better than the G34 for whatever reason. Maybe my eyesight focuses better on a closer front sight, or maybe I suck too much to benefit from the longer sight radius.

Interesting. I like the option of some cocktails in my .410, I can’t imagine .45 Colt being a hot item. .38/.357 is less surprising, even some of the most semi-auto-focused folks seem to keep a wheelgun around in those chamberings.
