Help a gun owner out

A gun owner in Indiana helped out a police officer that was involved in a struggle. As the perp reached for the cop's gun she took out her own weapon and shot him. Of course the perp has turned around and sued her. She has started a go fund me page to help with legal expenses. I donated.

Laws in all States must reflect that a person loses the ability to seek remedy from Tort if "they" are the aggressor or perpetrator of a crime, PERIOD!

Sad but true. During the orientation when I joined my range years ago the guide talked about this. They said if we ever used a gun in self defense we could expect to be sued even if the police/courts determined the shooting was justified. Modifying the factory issued trigger on a pistol/rifle would be used against us by the suing attorney and we would be painted as aggressive, blood thirsty savages looking to play rambo.

Yeah, your right Crit, but if I saw a cop jammed up along side the road I'd stop and do what ever it would take to get him back in control of the situation. I'm kinda thinking you would too.

Unfreakingbelievable. Lack of personal responsibility is killing society. Had the scumbag not put himself in the situation of wrestling with the cop and reaching for his gun, everyone would be living their life unfettered. He is the reason he is dead, not this woman. One less POS walking around. I wonder if CC insurance would have covered her. If I saw the same thing happening I don't think I could just sit by and not help. Imagine the guilt hearing about the officer being killed knowing I could have changed that outcome.

Luckily there are other ways to assist without a gun.
Ive been known to use a choke a time or two.
Then there is always a right cross, or a boot to the throat.

Can you show me 1 single case where someone was sued over a modified trigger?

Actually they do still ask who is pro gun and who considers themselves to be anti gun during selection

(I know this because my gf just had jury duty 3 weeks ago and that is one of the things she said they asked, she then told me her response to the lawyer was "that's none of your business")

I am not a legal scholar so no I cannot. If this has never happened, and is unlikely to actually happen then that is good news. However the point wasn't that someone would actually be sued for using a modified trigger. The lawsuit would be based on the fact that someone used their gun to shoot another person. The discussion of a modified trigger was the opposing lawyer would use that fact to portray the shooter as reckless. Once again, if this has never happened and is unlikely to happen then that is good news.

So what you are saying that if the person used legal and justifiable deadly force but their trigger was pink or flat vs curved or had a lighter pull that justified use of force is no longer justified because they had their carry gun set to what would work best for them in a stressful situation?

Modifying a mechanical tool only renders culpability of it fails to operate, or "negligently" causes harm (tort). A lighter trigger doesn't do that. Attorneys may try to associate that with a propensity to violence, but they could also use what TV shows you watch, what you read, or hey, what about those grips, don't use anything with a skull on them, heaven forbid you're wearing a 2A shirt!

Just gimme a break! It's all BS... And irrelevant! Attorneys can say what ever they want, what ever they can to try and sway a jury.

Not going to worry one bit about my accessories, or ammo selection, or how many times I go to the range, what publications I read, what Google Searches I've done.

I'll worry that my firearm works, that it works proficiently, that my aim be true, heaven forbid it's ever needed in life/death situation and that I'm the only one telling the story after the fact.

These Anti's have such a profound effect upon the minds of the unsure... They instill and permeate that "you can't do this", "can't do that" thought process that'll get you killed.

I hate it when I see it (those who display this trait)...

Let me ask you a question... If a guy was coming at you with a hammer in a menacing and apparently violent manner, you had no escape, but there was a steel pipe at your feet about 3' long and there was enough time/distance to pick it up and use it for your defense. . Would you? Or would you worry about the potential ramifications of you escalating the encounter by now running away (even though you couldn't).
