Back in January there was a report that these new betting apps that popped up last year had already raked in one point something trillion dollars, and as far as I know that was less than a year in operation.

I personally don’t think any organizations should get our tax money because they are private businesses. If they can’t make it on their own then there isn’t enough demand for that particular segment and it should be what it is. I remember the art gallery, the zoo, and the museum by me getting tons of government money during Covid and I said to myself why? My wife got mad when we talked about it and I said if not enough people go there then what’s the point? If only enough people go to make the tickets $60/entry then that’s the price point and if no one wants to pay that well then it folds. That’s how most of the world works.
I have zero interest in horse racing and my tax money should not go to support it. It’s borderline animal abuse anyway IMO. Also the cost is astronomical and it’s pointless to me. If the government isn’t going to support my hobbies then it is not equal protection under the law/government. In fact, NYS is trying to shutdown one of my main hobbies while paying millions to support one I dislike. Makes little sense to me.
