, there is no greater argument in favor of a “well-regulated militia” than the spectacle of the president implicitly threatening to scramble jets and nuclear bombs against dissident citizens. The National Rifle Association couldn’t have come up with a better pro-Second Amendment advertisement if it tried. More seriously, who is writing this stuff for Biden? In what world is “You don’t need a gun because the government can kill all of you at any time” considered an effective and persuasive anti-gun argument?


Indeed, Biden and others are giving a masterclass in how not to sell the general populace on gun-control proposals. If you want to convince someone of the need for a civilian check on the power of the federal government while putting them squarely in the same camp as pro-Second Amendment and anti-gun control voices, just show them this clip of the president threatening nuclear war on disobedient citizens.

"The militia is only the official military" and other kinds of bullshit they spout justifies their incorrect position with regard to the Constitution.
They truly believe that the 2nd Amendment only permits the official military (as controlled by the .gov) to "keep and bear" (so why is the military disarmed on their own bases?????).

Every other Right, as enumerated in the Bill of Rights, are INDIVIDUAL Rights, yet, somehow, the 2nd is only for the .gov? The calisthenics needed to balance those two viewpoints is way beyond my abilities.

They conveniently forget that cannons, field artillery, even the Ship-of-the-line, were typically owned, not by the government, but by companies or civilians, and loaned to the fledgling government to protect their interests (and the rest of the Country by coincidence).
They conveniently forget that civilian ownership of weapons has deterred more foreign occupation on American soil than any standing army.
And they conveniently ignore the willpower of the typical American to not put up with tyrannical bullshit when push comes to shove.
